Dishwasher powering off

I switch on machine, select wash option and machine starts but no water enters and power goes off. No error code displayed, power to water hose ok, water supply ok and no power leaks on machine the independent repairer told me. He changed the programming board, put it on a cycle and left as it seemed to be all ok. However, now back to same old problem when I attempted to do a load. I contacted repairer who muttered about having to pull machine out and get at the back. Any ideas what is going on? I don't want to spend more money with him changing parts on the off chance. When I press the on button it sometimes powers up and sometimes doesn't even before I select a programme

Sounds like the control board alright, but often repairers witll just replace a board without identifying what caused the fault.
There could be a peripheral device that is causing the failure. I would replace the solenoid valve that allows the water to enter the machine and the control board. when the old board is removed it should be thouroughly checked for water marks or corrosion, all connecting cables to the control board should be checked for wear and corrosion and be recrimped if nessesary, when the new board is fitted its anchoring should be checked to make sure that it is very secure. lastly all ground/earth points should be checked.

Often removing the base of the dishwasher can help identify if there is a small leak, remember it onyl takes one drop of salt laden water to cause damage to these control boards.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your input. i should have said that the old programming board looked immaculate, had no scorch marks or sign of fault. The repairer went all over the cables , connections and checked with some sort of meter thingie the ground/earth points. He hasn't come back yet........

  • Anonymous Oct 05, 2012

No worries, the valve might need to be checked! 2 boards failing back to back is unlikly and the chances are there is somthing connected to the board which is causing the fault. Has the door closed switch been checked, dissasembly of the catch might reveal that it is loose or damaged.

SOURCE: Horrible smell coming from the washing machine

IMPORTANT: Read thoroughly. DO NOT add detergent or other laundry products to this cycle.
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. If the bad odour persists, repeat the procedure 1 or 2 more times. This may be necessary if this is the first time you have run this cycle.
7. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
8. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly.
To maintain the washer freshness:
1. Use only HE High Efficiency detergent.
2. Leave the door open after each cycle to for better ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
3. Use warm / hot water in your machine unless the fabric you are washing requires cold.
4. Use the correct amount of fabric softener.
5. If your laundry room is damp, use a dehumidifier.
6. Clean the door seal of visible residue.

SOURCE: AEG Favorit 6040 Dishwasher has continuous tone

This sounds like the anti flood system has triggered. This does put the washer on a pump out mode and the outlet pump runs all the time. The trigger device is a polystireene slab in plastic bracket with miro switch at the bottom of the washer. Dry the bottom out and check for water leaks (hose clamp / hose) and this should solve the problem.

SOURCE: AEG Dishwasher 60820 Sensorlogic Delay timer stuck on 1Hr

This does sound like a problem with the "anti-flood" device that does detect water (leak / spill) at the base of the washer. This device is a protection device that consists of a polystirene float and a micro swithch. Once a water leak od spill is detected it automatically puts the washer in pump out mode. You need to determine if a leak exists that has caused the float to trigger the micro switch and clear the water / leak. This should put the washer back to normal.
However if the senslogic (pc board) has a program fault, the cost of this board = half the cost of a new washer ......

I found a small part (looks like the top part of a pen) in my washer, now when i turn on the washer the goes in but does not stop, does not start the wash cycle. Also door keeps locking and unlocking.

Problem with the Samsung Washing Machines The machine keeps coming up with the message HEI 10x

Here is a list of errors for your machine.

I hope they help you.

SAMSUNG WASHING MACHINES, ERROR FUNCTIONS

When an error occurs, the alarm noise will sound and the error code displayed in the program window. Listed below is a series of error codes you may or may not see for your model of Samsng Washing Machine. The errors are shown as blinking in O.5 second intervals until the error status has cleared. In this case, all the driving devices are turned off until the error is cleared.

1. WATER SUPPLY ERROR - Display shows 4E.

Water Supply Error occurs when water level frequency does not show changes more than 100Hz or water is not supplied up to the preset water level after 10 Minutes or more at the time of initial water supply. The error status can be cleared by turning the POWER switch OFF and back ON.

2. WATER DRAIN ERROR - Display shows 5E.

5E is displayed if the water level frequency detected is 25 KHz or less in the initial phase of the UNB -detecting cycle. The Water Drain error can be cleared by turning POWER SW OFF and back ON.

3. OVER-FLOW ERROR - Display shows oE.

Over-Flow error occurs when the water level is too high. It can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF. Water is drained prior to POWER switch OFF. The tub is drained for 2 minutes if a frequency of more than 25 KHz is detected.

4. UNBALANCE ERROR - Display shows UE.

Laundry load is unbalanced, manually loosen any tangled laundry.

If only one item of clothing needs washing, such as a bathrobe or jeans, the final spin result might be unsatisfactory and an UE error message will be shown in the display. Unbalance error is cleared by POWER switch OFF and back ON.

5. WATER HEATER ERROR - Display shows HE, HE1.

HE, HE1 is displayed if the water temperature rises by 7 C or more in 1 Min or by 2 C or less 20 Min after heating process has started. The error can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF.

6. WATER PRESSURE SWITCH ERROR - Display shows 1 E.

* Generated Frequency Signal of WATER LEVEL (WIL) SIW (KHz)

Normal Level = Abnormal W/L Frequency
Low Level = 30.00 Khz
High Level = 15.00 Khz

If the same signal is detected for more than 5 seconds, it is a PRESSURE SWITCH Error. When this error occurs the drain pump will operate for 3 min. and the display will show 1 E indicating a pressure switch error.

7. ABNORMAL WATER TEMPERATURE ERROR- Display shows cE.

e.g. If the water temperature is 50 C or more, during a Delicate or Wool cycle.

At the time of initial water supply, if the water temperature is not appropriate, the display will show cE. This error can be cleared by POWER SWITCH OFF.

8. WATER LEAKAGE ERROR - Display shows 11 E.

Water Leakage error occurs when the water drains naturally, (by leakage) after the washing program starts.

9. THERMISTOR ERROR - Display shows tE

Lg LD2060SH has no error codes but cannot set program or start wash. when power is switched on Green lights come on then green light only on normal wash. Cannot be moved with control knob and does not...

First check water inflow to the machine. If there is no water machine may not start.

To ascertain further, pour water into the wash chamber manually to the require level and run the machine. If it works check the water inlet.
