I recently bought a UNIDEN DECT1588-5 to replace my UNIDEN DCT648-3HS. Now, both phones don't work. I see a message Check TEL Line. I checked all lines and they all seem to work. I can even send this EMail thru my Broadband using the same telephone Lines. I tried to register the phone - I get REGISTERED FAILED message. Should I return this phone and get an AT&T phone instead???

SOURCE: how to register phones to base unit - uniden dct648
Unplug the unit again and press the intercom/find handset button while you re-connect the adaptor. Then dock the phone unit once again and it will re-register.

check the line wire if it connected well otherwise try to reset ur phone by removing the battery for 5 min. and install it back again and turn it on

I had the same problem with the same equipment and I found this on the web. It worked well for me.
* Remove the base unit's phone from its cradle.
* Unplug the power from the base unit.
* press and hold the FIND button on the base unit, then, while continuing to hold down the FIND button, plug in power again. The CHARGE light should then be flashing. You can release the FIND button.
* press and hold the # (pound) key on the accessory phone you are attempting to register to the base unit and hold this phone OVER and NEAR the cradle/charging prongs until the phone goes through the registration process. (again, don't set the accessory phone in the unit, but just hold it near the unit).
Good luck!

First be sure you have dial tone at the jack. Use a corded phone to do this with. If you do have dial tone then be sure you have ac at the outlet that the transformer is plugged in to. If there is no dial tone at the jack...go to your interface box outside and check for dial tone there....if none call the phone company. If you do have dial tone then you need to check your wires to the jack...or have the phone company do it for you. If you don't have ac at the outlet....check your breaker box or have an electrician check for you.
