Xerox Phaser 8500 - Replacing Printhead?

Hi all. I have a Phaser 8500 that needs fixing. Currently there are 4 bars on the cyan side that is always missing whenever I do a light stripes test. Even after trying to substitute the jets I get horrific lines through all of my prints whenever I print a dark blue. (Various shades of light blue haven't caused any lines through the printouts.) I've done about a dozen light stripes tests and cleaning, and so far the only thing I've accomplished was wasting ink.

Is this a cause for replacing a printhead? If so, does anyone know where I can purchase this? Is this something I can replace myself? Please advise.

Thanks in advance!

-Lisa

By the way, I've spoken to the ink manufacturer to see if that was the issue. And the compatible (non-Xerox brand) ink I use does seem to cause color issues. However, after cycling through many cleanings and tests, I'm positive the aftermarket ink has been used up. I've since replaced it back with Xerox brand cyan, but it still causes the problem.

Thanks, but I'm afraid I need a little more help. Thanks for the manual (whoever posted it). I tried to follow the steps, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at other than under the cover where I refill the ink, and the exit and front covers where I open to remove a paper jam. (Would totally appreciate a step by step if possible, thanks!)

I googled a printhead and the prices range from $15 to $400+, so I'm not sure what I need.

I would fix it myself if I can get a clear description of what it is I'm looking at. I just downloaded the parts list pdf but am unsure of how to open the printer itself.

The printer is fitted with screws and locks but they r very delicate locks to get it opened as a technician is required, but if u r confident you can carry on. good luck.

Phaser 8500 error code 19,003.48:64663

19.003:48 is the error code 64663is the number of pages the unit has printed. the error indicates a power difference of +- 20% when trying to drive the printhead. The issue is the Electronics Module (System logic and power) or the Wave Amplifier (Printhead Controller). Both of the parts are fairly easy to replace. If it is the wave amp it is a somewhat affordable part.if it is the EM you should replace the printer. It isn't worth the fix.

Xerox Phaser 8560, produces cyan colored streaks whenever this ink is used. No other colors produce streaks.

You are probably using "Media Sciences" ink sticks (Non-Xerox).

This means the printheads jets are clogged, and the printhead needs replacing.

Media Sciences released a defective lot of cyan ink sticks.

They are currently replacing printheads (at their cost) if you call them.

Xerox Phaser 8500 Error 09,005.40:100473

You don't have to take all the printer apart just the ink loader. Which is held mostly by the side covers. Get a flat head and break down the peaces left over on the cyan ink and flip upside down the ink loader and that should make it work again with no problem.

Red is not printing properly.

That is caused by a defective print head.

Xerox 8500 excessive ink use

Hi,

One of the reasons this could be happening is because you are using non-xerox ink so your print head needs to clean it out much more often. Be careful using other ink as this can destroy the machines printhead which is more expensive then the machine itself to replace. What you could try is installing the new printhead firmware, it might help! Follow the link below and good luck!
