Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

Kenmore Elite problem

Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite front loading washer, HE4t. Only 1 year old. It seems to be having a problem starting. The door closes and if I go to touch any cycle and push START, nothing happens. The display reads SEt if I hold the start button down. All the lights work, no F errors. Just SEt. I used to hear the solenoid click on the door, but do NOT hear that anymore. I went and used a dang screwdriver on the door latch, thinking it might just be 'loose' and latched the lock closed, now I can't close the door. Any ideas??

Quick followup on this front loading Elite that says "set", and won't start.
I released the doorlatch,(that was dumb) closed the door and did a diagnostics test. Everything runs good.
What's odd, is the Start button acts like the Custom button.
THATS why it beeps after 3 seconds, then says 'SEt'. Because when I push start it does what the Custom button is sapposed to do. And the Custom button does'nt do squat.
I am guessing a new board will be the call when the tech. comes?
    Anyone ever see this?

1. Remove the lower panel under the door by loosening the three screws under the bottom edge on the front of the washer. HINT: If you prop up the front feet of the washer with some small blocks of wood, this will make access to the screws much easier.
2. With the screws removed, the lower panel should drop down then come off. If the panel sticks, a light tap on either side will knock it loose.
3. Reach your hand up inside the washer behind the front casing on the right-hand side. This is where the door latch assembly is located.
4. At the bottom of the door latch assembly is a small pull tab. This is the manual release for the door. Pull the tab straight down and the door will come open.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My husband's work clothes were stuck in the machine and it was going to be 4 days before someone could come out. We tried what you said and it worked even though we had a different model machine.

I have a kenmore he4t washer and the front door

First thing to check is if your door hinge has a sag to it. The next step if there is a sag is try adusting the screws that hold the hinge on the frame of the door sometimes these do come loose. and do require tightening. Folowing confirmation that there is no sag in the hinge your next step would to order a new door latch. If you are not mechanically capable of removing the front section of the machine you should call a technician

I have to pause and restart then it will stop washing again after a few minutes and flash the same codes again. I reset again and then it stops with 1 minute left and will not drain.

Kenmore Elite HE4T Washer

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model front loading washers. If you experience a problem where the door becomes jammed and will not unlock or open, here's an easy way to gain access inside your washer WITHOUT calling the repairman.

Sometimes these doors will not unlock for whatever reason. If there are no error codes being generated, this could have just been a momentary glitch. If you see "Fdl" "DLE" or "Fdu" error codes, these are usually indications of a failed door latch assembly and will require replacement.

F Code for the Kenmore Elite he4t Front Load Washer (3 years old)

Hi! ricksmith
What is the first three digits of the model number.
The he4t I have reference to does not have a "F" code error. Most of the codes are two digit, PF, F1 to F9 etc.
You could try: Pressing Pause/Cancel two times to clear code. As well as unplug for 20 seconds. Do you have power fluctuations in your area.
