Search youtube, there are several walktroughs.

Generally the below screws have to be all removed and then the keyboard (small security buttons on the top of the keyboard) and carefully removing it watching not to damage the flex cable and pry the top cover to unclick. Then the insides should be easily exposed.

In this case you need to check the inverter, defective inverter will cause the following symptoms:
No Display
dim screen
Screen Flash on and Off between 1/2 to a few seconds

Actually you need to replace the inverter buy a new inverter which is compatible to the old one. Installing the inverter is easy, it does not require any technical skills. In fact, it is a lot easier then changing the I/O Card in your PC System because there is no driver ( Software) Involve.
Tools:
Philips screw driver
Small Flat screwdriver

Preparation:
Make sure your have enough space on your desk and it must be clean.
Disconnect AC Adapter and Remove Battery from Laptop Computer.

Procedures:
This procedure is based on Toshiba Satellite A105-S4284 (with 15.4 inch Screen)
Removing the front bezel on Laptop screens is easy. Usually, these screws are covered by small rubber pad; so, all you need to do is remove these rubber pad and screws. To do this procedure you can find some instructions as shown on the next few photos to the link that i can provide below.

There is a volume control knob on the notebook itself.....sheck to see if this is not set to minimum...
