Colors separated The three colors are separated on the screen. Red is particulaly off. For quite some time it has powered up with a little focus problem, but now it does not resolve itself and the red seems to be about 3 inches to the right of the other two. Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem. So, I need 2 convergence boards, correct? I have also been told that I need capacators and heat sink lube. How hard is this to do, and is there somewhere I can get instructions?

    I'm having the same issue. The red is the primary ghost. Any additional help would be appreciated.

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.Colors separated - 2c07611.png/>2c07611.pngSolution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

I have a toshiba tv model tp50g90 I have replaced the convergence chips stk392-110 convergence was corrected but I have a problem yet red not managed to focus on the user menu in the option of...

Thats the way it works. You have to adjust the other colors to the red. You adjust the red from the back of the set using the convergence magnets on the tubes. Then you adjust the other colors to match the red. It's much easier if you have the plastic screen from Toshiba used to align this set.

Akai rear projection tv...picture is not deformed....however there are images (Ghost image) in separated colors...like 3d

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

My E771 monitor colors suddenly shifted with

Possibilities:
1. video-card gone bad;
2. video-cable gone bad;
3. video-cable not tightly-connected to CRT;
4. video-cable not tightly-connected to video-card;
5. "red" gun inside CRT gone bad.

Disconnect the video-cable from the computer, and try again to adjust the "red". If red-free, then it's time to responsibly recycle the CRT.

Reconnect & wiggle the video-cable, to see if that induces any "red" onto the CRT.

Connect the CRT to the VGA-output port on a notebook computer, to see if that video-card generates "red" as one of the primary colours.

Give the CRT a strong "whack" on the side, to see if "red" makes an appearance.

Sony dlp with red tint

This is a simple fix and not hard to do, first you must get the speaker grill off, usaly two screws on the bottom and they might be hidden under to caps, then remove the acsess cover from the front. From there you should see a control box with six controls, three on top of three,,,,One part label "screen" the other "focus" now turn the set on and tune to a input that HAS NO SIGNAL this should give you a black pix, probley not now but it's supose to be black. Now turn the ones marked screen , one at a time counter clockwise just a little to get the pix compleatly black, now starting with one color turn the control slowly clockwise till the color just appears then turn it back down till it just disapears (Black) do this for all three colors Now the set should runn

Colors are separated on the top from the left to right

Probably the color convergence is off. I had a similar problem. Have you tried the magic focus button yet? That is located at left in the small front control panel. Power on TV, wait 20 min (according to user guide), then press the magic focus. If that doesn't fix the problem, you could try the service mode alignment procedure. But that's a little trickier. I don't have a link handy for that procedure right now, but will look for it if magic focus doesn't re-align your color convergence.
