Question about Singer 7462 Mechanical Sewing Machine
Although I do not know this model, the philosophy of these types of threader is to place the thread horizontally to the needle across the needle hole while a tiny hook comes towards you thru the hole and pulls a loop of thread with it, you grab the loop and pull it free.
(Some older Janomes have a device that pushes from front to rear)
The tiny hook can and does get bent, so get a magnifier and just check it is functioning....if it is missing the needle eye, a small implement, like jewellers screwdriver etc may be used to gently straighten and re-align....they are quite sturdy, but be gentle.
Once you have a look at the device under magnification you will also much better understand how it works, and know where the thread needs to be for it all to come together !
