See this causes and fix it. God bless you
Heating Element A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Heating Element Assembly A defective heating element assembly can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element assembly to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Air Flow Problem Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.
Felt Seal Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

SOURCE: Dryer has no heat.Changed the heating coil rear

Maybe you already know this, but occasionally the coils will swell when you first turn them on and they expand to the point of arc'ing off the housing. This puts you right back to square one. I learned the hard way to buy the entire assembly when changing and not just the coil. Not sure if this is your problem or not, but worth another check. I believe the next step would have to be in the control system.

Maytag Neptune MAH5500 smelled like burning plastic at the end of the cycle. (The whole basement smelled bad.) The smell seemed to be coming from the plastic part at the top where it latches.

Tub bearings get worse, if they faulty, the machine would be noisy and getting louder. Sudden burning smells usually mean an electrical failure of a component but if this has stopped and the machine is working properly, its possible that something has got caught up in the rim of the tub or gasket area and during spin it has got "burnt" by being dragged around the edge. Have a close look at your clothes that were washed on that day for signs of burning or damage and around the top at leading edges of the tub for signs of melting or damage.

GE DPXH46GA6CC gas dryer makes large humming noise in heat cycles and burning smell

Two things are likely going on here,1- something is dragging down your motor check for a twist in the belt, idler pulley bad, belt installed wrong or wrong belt. Also check your front drum felt and glides if the felt is bunched up that will drag down the motor. Now the smell you probably have some felt or lint in the burner clean it carefully you do not want to damage your igniter.

Lg dishwasher smells like something is burning

This is an interesting problem and it requires some testing equipment to see what the problem is. You have to check the heating coil if it is a washer that heats the water. You also need to check the control board and some other things to see if you can locate the source of the burining smell. To perform these checks requite some test equipment like a meter.

I have a Kenmore Elite microwave oven... 69-65e05590-000637. We noticed that it would not heat food or liquids... played with the power level a bit and it started to heat again...then a day or two later we...

Is this oven still under warranty? If so, take advantage. If not, remove the power plug and the case. Short out, with a screwdriver, the large can-shaped capacitor with two terminals sticking out. Check the wiring and circuit board for signs of burning. If everything looks ok, remove the thin sheet metal wave guide that sits above or beside the microwave energy port into the cooking cavity. Under the sheet metal, there is a metal fan-like device called a 'stirrer' that has a plastic bearing. Remove this stirrer and smell the bearing. If it smells like the burning wire smell, replace the stirrer. You can buy it through 'Sears Parts' online.

Dryer would not turn on. It smelled like something was burning!

Not only do you have to replace that wire, but you have to determine what it fed. The motor is a likely suspect to overload a wire. Check it for lint, worn out bearings, junk at the fan, and dryer roller bearings that might need heat resistant grease. Also check the front glides for wear.

What is the smell and does it have to be fixed?

A burning rubber smell under the hood might be just that - consider having your accessory drive belt inspected, as it is possible that a bearing in one of the accessories (alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, etc.) or in the tensioner mechanism might be failing. This sort of fault will often cause that particular accessory bearing to spin less freely than the others, and as a result the belt continues to pass over the associated pulley at the same speed as the engine. Essentially, the result is similar to a car spinning its tires on dry pavement - and a similar 'burning rubber' odor is the friction and heat of the rubberized belt.

If the odor is more like burning oil than burning rubber, the rear valve cover gasket is situated in a place that results in dripping oil, even small and unnoticable amounts, onto the exhaust manifold that is directly underneath the valve cover.

These two items might be places to start your inquiry. Best of luck to you!

My house everyonce in a while, gets burning smell - only upstairs, it smells like it is coming from the vent. I have had my heat on since October, but the smell only started in November. I had someone come...

I'm going to guess that there is something in the heater area which doesn't belong there.  It might be insects or worse.  Get someone else in to look at the burner/heater unit.  The other problem could be a stuck fan which is burning...although that usually starts as a squealing bearing.

T.V. TURNS OFF

Sounds like somethings over heating if you smell something. The wise thing to do if you know nothing at all about the tv repair is to call someone unless you feel convident enough to open it and look around very carefully and see if you can describe whats over heating or burning as if you keep turning on the set and it keeps smelling it will burn something out thats not burned out now.
