Photos pinkish and grainy whne printed and viewed

When viewing the photo on the screen it is pinkish in color and when it prints it is also pinkish and grainy

  • iambikerbean Dec 30, 2008

All the photos were taken in the house or outside but not in the dark. All the photos have a pinkish tint and are grainy even when you are looking at the screen.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

did you take in the dark? if so, it's probably just a bad photo

do all (or most) of your photos come out like this?

I have a Cannon Powershot SX120 and the color is off. What can I do? I have tried different things in the manual but I end up frustrated.

You didn't provide enough information so I'll try this.
If the color is off on your prints or on your computer screen when you try to view the photos from the card, you might check your computer's color setting to ensure that you have it set correctly, IE. ADOBE RGB, CMYK, etc. This is also the same potential fix for printing photos.

My Canon MP210 never prints photos correctly! The colors come out like the right color but very incorrectly. Basically, the photos all have very severe color management problems. APparently the printer has...

Have you heard of Wysywig? What you see is what you get?

Well on color pictures on you monitor you get wysinwyg what you see is not what you get. Monitors are backlit, so colors are much more vibrant than what a printer can generally deliver. Explore the printing properties of your priinter as there are adjustments that can be made to enable better quality and true to color prints. The paper you use to print out your pics is also important in producing color that is close to original.

When you view your pics on screen try adjusting the color hue to the point it becomes overcolored and try a few experimental prints to see what level of the slide is needed to be used to achieve a brighter more vibrant picture. I would also like to say that the Canon 210 , whilst it is a very good printer, is at the cheaper end of the photo printer scale.

Talk to your ink and paper supplier, they can often show you or recommmend printers that are much higher and more accurate in delivering brighter and true to color photos.

A faint line shows up down the middle of the page, when printing a photo

from cnet review of the product

  • Unfortunately, as with the Z1420, fast print speeds come at the cost of print quality with the Z1300. Black text prints, though nicely dark, were beset by obvious jaggedness. The color graphics print had a slightly faded look to it and color blocks showed graininess and faint horizontal striations. Barcode-style patterns were muddled, too. For our tests, we printed color 4x6 photos with the standard black and tricolor cartridges, as Lexmark did not include photo ink tanks with the test unit. The colors were dull, details were hazy, and again, the entire print was marred by graininess and faint horizontal lines. That said, nobody buys a $25 printer to print photos for framing or to create displays for a classroom science project. A $25 printer is a convenience item for occasional reference prints, and as such, the Z1300 does its job.

Your printer software and the program you used to print the photo have settings to turn up the quality of the printer just for photos.
I suspect you just forgot to do that

Ink Color Issues

Did you change any of the configurations on your printer. Most photo printers have color settings that are media dependent. It sounds like you might have it set to print on regular paper but not on photo paper. There are a lot of settings that you can accidentally change on a printer so I would suggest uninstalling the printer then reinstalling it and see if that is the issue.
