Kenmore 62972 ele dryer

I have a 6 yr old kenmore ele dryer. when I press the on button, it starts for a second then stops. It only seems to run when I tape button down. I replaced the push-to-start switch, but problem is still there. What can I do? Possible electric malfunction? Thanks.

THERE IS A SMALL RELAY THAT THAT BUTTON ACTIVATES ... THE RELAY SOUNDS LIKE IT IS BAD. BEFORE REPAIRING I WOULD HAVE A "FIXED-FEE" DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE. USUALLY 30-50 DOLLARS. THEN THERE IS THE REPAIR COST. IS IT WORTH IT?

Push on button will not stay on unless you hold it in.

I have a 4 yr. old kenmore elite HE4 dryer. I put the clothes in and hit normal cycle. 41 minutes automatically comes on. I hit various buttons and nothing happens. I hit the start button and it finally...

Kenmore 73954 : Only runs when the START button is continuously pressed

The start button starts the motor heater and energizes a relay that latches closed to keep the motor and heater running untill the timer switch or door switch cut the power to the relay and the relay opens.
The latching relay has failed or disconnected
if all the cables are attached to the relay
replace relay
not an expensive item, usualoly good for 10years
dryer circuits look like this, the start switch and relay are drawn just to the right of the motor, this diagram has no relevance to the physical position of the parts

psrao, right next to the timer under the consol is the even heat board. When this fails, it will cause this problem. This has been an issue with this model. Part number for the board is 3978949. Catriver..post back.
