It does not sound that unusual as long it's just the fan turning off?

Just might be dusty. Open the case, and use a can of air to blow clean.

SOURCE: CPU cooling fan

Hi...you can press the F2 key to enter setup...and scroll down until the fan is highlited...hit enter and then F10 to save and exit. This tells the computer its OK.
you should have plugged the fan in the same pin port the old fan was in. Usually only 1,.
If the new fan is not from dell..it may be faster and noiser..or it may be faulty..if you bought it locally you may try to return it.
The purpose of the fan of course is to remove the hot air from the CPU to keep it from overheating. If this fan does it it is most likely ok.
Hope this helps..

Server Randomly Reboots

First, go to Dell's website and update all the firmware and install the latest version of Dell Server Administrator. DSA has logs information not logged by Windows. Next, take it outside and blast the fans with compressed air, make sure all components and cables are properly seated in their slots/sockets, turn it on with the cover off and make sure all the fans are spinning. Many servers will increase the fan speed if they detect the cover is off so this is another possible cause to the problem.
Finally, Dell servers have lifetime support, this number should work: (800) 945-3355
Good luck!
BTW: A temporary workaround might be to use a network controlled outlet that you can remotely turn off and on. Your UPS might be able to turn outlets on and off or you could get a stand alone network controlled outlet. Some can actually ping the device and turn power off and on again if it stops replying to pings. (E.g. IP Power EV-9255 IP http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1470N64280)

I have a Dell T3400 deskto pc running win xp. When

Check your BIOS settings to see if "smart fan" settings are enabled or disabled.

If they are disabled, your fan will run at max speed all the time.

Once enabled, the fan should only speed up as your cpu heats up, and then turn itself down once a lower temperature is reached.

Variable speed fans suddenly slow single speed only.

check with the temperature of the CPU core!
because of over heating the CPU is shutting down or not.

Optiplex gx280 won't boot and cpu fan goes faster

Sounds like a bad motherboard, I try resetting the bios , removing everything but the video , could be a bad power supply too (if you have one jump the wires in there as a test). you can buy those dell MBs cheap on fleabay.

CPU fan races

turn up the task manager to monitor the cpu load. use ctrl shift esc to bring it up. now open up an application. see as the cpu meter goes from low to full green (high).. then check if the fan also speeds up. i guess you have a cmos setup on the motherboard that monitors cpu load and speeds up the fan.

as for the usb -speaker, please explain further..
