Greetings, my Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD recorder tray will not open. I opened the unit, and the RUBBER BAND that drives the tray to open is broken. Can I buy replacement RUBBER Band anywhere?
Thank you for your help, but like I stated, the rubber band, (belt) that drives the gear to open the tray is BUSTED. Found a place that sells them, will replace this week end.
I don't think holding any keys down will open the tray, since it's driven by the belt from the tiny motor.
Sorry - forgot to mention. You need to hold "Stop" and "Channel Up" buttons for 5 seconds.
Tray will then eject.
Also - May be in manual "Troubleshooting guide/Operation/Cannot eject disc". Had same problem myself once and searched internet for solution.

this unit has an optical-eye, not recording heads. opening the drawer then unplugging unit will expose the eye. never look into the eye when unit has power. this x-ray can and will burn your owh eyes lens&retina. good luck. clean with 90% isopropyl alcohol and q-tip. mch
WHEN THE UNIT IS SWITCHED OFF, press and hold the STOP (black square) and Channel Up ( /\ ) buttons ON THE UNIT for 5-10 seconds. It takes longer than you might imagine and the unit does, of course, still need to be plugged in and power to be available for this to work!
hi....Download instruction manual of DMR-ES10 by clickiing this link http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES10.PDF. It is PDF file and can be open / print through adobe reader . for adobe reader, go to www.adobe.com.
Manually pull down the front shield, then somewhat forcefully pull down the inner shield and maybe two little white pins so the tray is exposed with nothing blocking it. Have someone plug the machine in while you are holding everything out of the way and the tray should start to open. Pull your fingers out quickly so you don't block the tray from sliding out.
does it record? We have noticed that these problem is occured by dirt on optical .First you have to clean optical lens .take cotton sworb and open the dvd-ram assy ,open top cover and claen leser. If problem still persist than only solution is to change dvd-ram drive thats optical assy.
