Hi, rocker button now completely failed so I'm trying to dismantle the beast to get at it. Have removed all accessible crosshead screws (2 each side, 4 underneath, 2 - probably irrelevant - from flash head), also the battery hatch, and the body shells can now be pried apart slightly at the sides. However something is holding it together at mid-axis. Are there further screws under labels/viewfinder surround/etc? Any advice welcome - I don't want to wreck it with brute force. Superb camera btw!
Oh how fun, yep when I dismantled one of my old dead kodak digital cams - same thing, I'd removed all the screws but still struggled to open it up. Yes, the body is also "snapped" together with a couple of fittings. And after much futzing & prying, yah me. Holds up 2 plastic halves & one former camera guts. Yea was a good camera, it had lived a long & happy life, even after the super cheapo battery compartment door fell off, um, after being dropped maybe.
