Perhaps you have not installed ALL the drivers for your system.Sometimes a missing driver for other hardware causes a problem.After installing all the drivers for your system and if it still doesnt work , try using the connection manager built into windows (instead of configfree).

this site has great tear down instructions for most laptops. if it doesn't have the exact one you can look over a few of the tear downs on different models. you will then understand how to tear down you own laptop.
