Press F8 during boot, and load Safe Mode. A program may be preventing a proper startup.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running.

This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

T61 Boot up Problem

Try registering the DLL. Use regsvr32 xxxxx.dll in run or cmd. Of course regsvr32.exe has to be in your system. It's been a while since I've used the command so I don't have more info.

This is a hard drive issue or windows have corrupt files, if you have the installation disc try and reload the operational system, if no change! have the hardware checked out at a computer repair store.

I don't believe it will because the heat sink and CPU screws won't line up and the CPU is smaller but i'm not for sure. The board architecture is the same but the form factor i believe is different.I'm sorry but i can't say for sure and i don't want to lead you to a bad conclusion.

Green flickering squares when i turn on my laptop

Something's wrong with the display driver or the display card. You can try opening up the T61. The contact on the display chip or the display connector is probably corroded. Try pressing them a bit (not to hard). if it's the display connector, try removing it and placing it back. I've had this problem before with some other notebook. It's ok when in safe mode because safe mode doesn't use the higher display functions.

I loaded xp sp2 onto my T61 using compatibility mode in the BIOS but i get the blue screen when I try to change the BIOS setting back...

Sorry you Cant change back SP2 is now in charge. You would have to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the original OEM (original Equipment Manufacture) program. Sp 2 is fine . Until you get updated by Microsoft to SP3. Bios=Basic Information Operating System.
