Most likely cause is that a roller has degraded during storeage. Measure the distance from the centre of the first band to the second and from the center of the second band to the third. If this dimesion is fairly constant you can work out exactly which roller is causing the problem. The most likely culprit will be the Photo Conductor Unit. This will give a large dimension - (approx the 29cm??) A service manual should give you the dimensions (circumferences) of the rollers within the machine. If you have a spare pcu around, put it in and see if it makes ANY difference.

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

Horzontal white lines cut through print and picture copies. When doing head allignment the horozontal bars all have a white gap, 1 through 7. Epson Stylus CX5400

You don't need to do head alignment, because it is for vertical banding in printout. Vertical banding can be minimized by disabling high speed option without doing head alignment. If your printout have horizontal white lines, do check nozzle and head cleaning, or you can minimize white lines by printing in best quality (photo).

Epson Stylus r220 prints with white lines... i installed a CIS and it worked fine for about 6 months, now i'm getting prints with white lines (or fine spots) i tried nozzle check, which comes out good......

Nozzle check must perfect for perfect output. There are tranversal lines at vertical straight lines that represent same point of head micro piezo. If tranversal lines no clog at all, but vertical straight lines not perfectly straight, the result not good (like horizontal white banding). Check it? Head aligment is for vertical banding. If your result is horizontal banding, you don't need to realign head. It's caused by some residual at the output of head sprayer. So, the spray of ink not straight to paper. Try to print with photo/best photo.

Button sequence for head test (to look for banding)

Turn the printer off.
Load a sheet of white laser paper.
Press and hold the "Power" & "Ready/FF" buttons at the same time.
Release the "Power" button, and keep pressing the Ready/FF" button.
Right after you release the "Power" button, count 4 seconds, and release the Ready/FF" button.
Immediately, press and release the "Ready/FF" button one last time.
The printer should start printing a series of letters, numbers, horizontal lines and a black solid bar at the bottom of the sheet.
Once this test page is completed, turn the printer off to stop the test.

Horizontal Banding

From the Microtek KB: www.microtek.com Scans that produce lines, fading, and discoloration generally result from a corrupt scanner driver installation or a burned out lamp. To determine if your problem is caused by a burned out lamp, simply open the scanner lid and check the color of the lamp. If the color is a shade of red, pink, or green, then the lamp is burned out. Perform a scanner preview to get a clear view of the lamp. If the lamp is a bright white and the problem still exists, please contact technical support.
