My new ipod nano 8G will not sync

Adding Content Automatically or Manually
There are two ways to add content to iPod nano: ? Automatic syncing: When you connect iPod nano to your computer, iPod nano is automatically updated to match the items in your iTunes library. You can sync all your songs, playlists, videos, and podcasts, or, if your entire iTunes library doesn’t fit on iPod nano, you can sync only selected items. You can sync iPod nano automatically with only one computer at a time. ? Manually managing iPod nano: When you connect iPod nano, you can drag items individually to iPod nano and delete them individually from iPod nano. You can add songs from more than one computer without erasing songs from iPod nano. When you manage music yourself, you must always eject iPod nano from iTunes before you disconnect it.

yes you can, plug the ipod into your computer, you will need to get show hidden files enabled from the folder settings and browse into the ipod and transfer the mp3 files there.

this is what you will do, when you sync it again stop the automatic sync the click on your player on the itunes window to see its details, you will see 3 or 4 checkboxes and check manually add music or songs and ucncheck if there is any, the box that says automatically sync music, then click sync, it will start syncing again the disconnect. add songs only to the folder where itunes have got the songs so that next time you sync the ipod the songs previously added wont be erased.

On Mac or PC, it's the same... This is a preference setting in iTunes.
Open iTunes software, from the left top menu called iTunes, drop down to "preferences" then choose "devices" check off where it says "prevent ipods and iphones from syncing automatically"

The other spot to make sure you are controlling the music manually is;
Plug in sync cable, your ipod shows up on left column in iTunes, at the summary tab (default view) it shows a window on your screen that has three sections: ipod model, version and on the bottom it has "options" be sure to check off "manually manage music & videos." remember you can drag songs directly onto your ipod icon. (on a Mac anyway) Good luck.

open up itunes and the music library tab then drag and drop your saved music into itunes the music will take a little while to load but after it does you will be able to sync it to the ipod

ipods dont use windows media player to sync with your computer. they use itunes available at apple.com

Click Apply. To manually add music videos, movies or TV shows to your iPod, choose one of these categories under LIBRARY in the Source list. Select and drag items you want (to choose multiple items, Command-click items on a Mac or Control-click items in Windows), then drag them onto your iPod icon in the Source list. On the main ipod home page in itunes where it shows you how much memory is taken up, there will be four check boxes with word written next to it. There will be one that says manually manage files and it should be checked. Click it to uncheck it and it will automatically sync with itunes every time you plug the ipod into the computer so all new files and stuff will be sync onto your ipod without you having to do anythoing with it.
