Http://life.firelace.com/archives/2005/04/replacing_a_del_1.php You should find step by step instructions to do it yourself. It shouldn't be too difficult if you follow the instructions. Good Luck.

How do i unlock the keyboard

you could try going to 'device manager' (if you have windows) and disabling the keyboard driver then restarting. Or try attaching an external usb keyboard to prove that works. Usually it is the actual keyboard that has gone. There's usually a screw or two on the base of the laptop that secures the keyboard and some clips around the edges of the kb and/or a bezel at the top that may hide some screws. Keyboards are usually cheap to replace - have a look at ebay for a replacement - quite an easy job, so don't worry.

The letter u key gives me the number 4, the i key gives me the number 5 the o gives me number 6, The last 3 to 4 letter keys gives me numbers

right first off im assuming this isn't a full size keyboard with the number pad on the right.

so when you have a laptop keyboard some characters share with others, in your case numb lock has been pressed and is replacing the letter u with 4

hope this helps

Some of my letters are not working, how do i clean them inside and out? i have to use the on screen keyboard, to compose a post.

Cleaning the keyboard involves undoing all the retaining screws underneath the keyboard
I'd only attempt this if you have a model keyboard to work from as you will need to replace the keys in correct order afterwards, as and when one falls out

Once undone, the top and bottom halves will be ready to come apart, turn the keyboard over so that gravity holds the keys in position, remove the membrane carefully pull each key out in turn and wash it in soapy water, drying it thoroughly, replace and re-assemble

In point of fact the non working key issue is most likely down to a failed circuit anyway, so the job of cleaning the board may not work, you would be far better junking the keyboard and replacing it. I do mine every 12 months as the keyboard loses its action and replacing it is a cheap alternative to cleaning it

Lost some keys are they possible to replace thanks

Yes, laptop keyboards are quite cheap and easy to replace. You can find them online by typing in the name and model of your laptop to Google and then searching for keyboards. It'll probably run about $20. Then it's just a matter of replacing it. This is a helpful tutorial.

REPLACING KEYBOARD OF A ACER 3002 LCI LAPTOP

Replace the inside of the keyboard with a new piece. One of the major problems with Acer keyboards is that the plastic pieces holding the keys in place become loose or broken. You can find a cheap keyboard from Papatek.com or an electronics store. Simply take apart the new keyboard, pull the keys off your keyboard, lay the plastic piece on top and replace your keys.

Laptop key will not type?

Thet's the "h". Even replacing one key on a laptop keyboard is nearly impossible. Best to order a new keyboard and install it yourself. Keyboards are cheap.
