Some of my letters are not working, how do i clean them inside and out? i have to use the on screen keyboard, to compose a post.
Cleaning the keyboard involves undoing all the retaining screws underneath the keyboard
I'd only attempt this if you have a model keyboard to work from as you will need to replace the keys in correct order afterwards, as and when one falls out
Once undone, the top and bottom halves will be ready to come apart, turn the keyboard over so that gravity holds the keys in position, remove the membrane carefully pull each key out in turn and wash it in soapy water, drying it thoroughly, replace and re-assemble
In point of fact the non working key issue is most likely down to a failed circuit anyway, so the job of cleaning the board may not work, you would be far better junking the keyboard and replacing it. I do mine every 12 months as the keyboard loses its action and replacing it is a cheap alternative to cleaning it
