On my Cobra 25 LTD CLassic, New my meter drops when transmitting

Ok, I had a new CB, old ant. Would receive signal but would not transmit though the meter pegged at transmit. Changed out Ant. with a different one, now the meter drops when transmitting, but I am still receiving. Help, how do you know if you fried the final?

Is this a new out of the box radio?if so you might need a tech to look at it because it could be an internal problem. It would have to be put on an analyzer and a scope to actually be seen doing what you say.don't worry because it can be fixed.the cost of fixing it is the problem. You have to decide whether you want to pay more for the repair than you paid for the radio. Either way,new or used the answer is the same.

SOURCE: Cobra 29GTL Won't Transmit

if the red ant light comes on this means that you have antenna trouble either in the antenna itself or the coax but this should not have anything to do with the radio not transmitting. it sounds to me that you have a bad audio chip or a bad power output transistor. in either case you should really take it to a cb shop and let the professionals solve your problem, good luck!!

SOURCE: cobra 29 ltd classic cb not transmitting

Check the ground. Make sure its grounded well on bare metal. To see if the ground is bad, or not making good connection, disconnect the antenna and turn it on. if it does not power up, that means your ground is bad, and it was grounding only through the antenna.

Make sure not to key up with out the antenna connected.

The calibrate needle wont move to the right to set whe trying to calibrate on cobra 29 ltd classic new radio

You have to press the transmit button to get the radio to send a signal that you can calibrate the SWR meter to. If you are pressing the transmit button and nothing is happening then it could be a blown final transistor, a bad switch, bad microphone connection etc.

Static in my cobra ultra 3.

The easiest way to check this is to hook an SWR meter to the antenna to see if the cables are ok. If the SWR is low then it would show no problems in the transmit and therefore the receive would be good.

Rf meter not moving when keying up

if the radio is transmitting fine, then the meter is shot. It happens. You can get them cheap on ebay. Its 2 wires and 2 screws. You need to un solder the old one and solder in the new one.

I can transmit but sometimes it won't receive. I put on a new cable today & and a new ant. last week (classic 29)

Watch your meter and if the needle is moving but you can't hear anyone then try a different microphone. The wire for receive might be broken intermittently.

TO SETUP MY SWR, SHOULD I USE THE METER IN THE RADIO OR AN EXTERNAL SWR METER . THE SET IS THE NEW 29LTD BT. ALSO AT TIMES THE ANT LITE COMES ON WHEN TRANSMITTING. IS THIS NORMAL?

Always use an external meter to set SWR. If the ant. warning light comes on it indicates a problem with the SWR. Check it with external meter.

Cobra 25 ltd wx classic

the mics on these cobras have a receive wire in them so the transmit will still work even if the receive wire is broken,if this wire is broken the unit will not make any sound...........remove the plug from the radio end of the mic and check the connections on the 5 pin connector.....(could be a cold solder or broken wire) or try a new mic or one that is proven work on another radio
hope this helps.................good luck!

Cobra 29 LTD Classic not transmitting or receiving

As I understand from a tech friend of mine, most truck beds are not grounded well enough. Perhaps you could borrow/purchase a magnet mount antenna and locate it on the roof, for testing. Then you would have it narrowed down to the location.
