Yes! Just be sure to use the remote, and when you enter "General" features... Look for recording, or Dubbing. Under dubbing... It should allow you to choose which way you wan the recording to go. For example, VHS>DVD or DVD>VHS... Then, install the blank in one side, the movie in the other, and hit the "Dubbing" RECORD button. this should work. Also, most companies now have their documentation, even for very old units, online should you need the instruction manual which originally came with your unit. Good luck!
The DR-MV150B has both a digital tuner and analog tuner. Since the digital conversion you more likely have not run a channel scan for the new digital channels. Plugging in a digital tuner would work, but is unnecessary. What you probably have to do is run the 'auto scan' feature through the recorders menu. Hit "Home" button go to the "TV" icon and select "Auto Scan". It will take a few minutes, but recorder will scan for digital channels and memorize them.
Carl, Better late than.. I think that the Polo can record the encoded closed captioning onto the HDD, but you have to have a CC equipped television to display the captioning. The newer Magnavox and Philips recorders sold at Walmart record the captioning, and have the capability to display it even on sets without the built in CC decoder depending upon your recording settings. If you get a digital converter box and connect that as the source to your Polo, you can record CC displayed on the screen if you want. tom
Make sure you dont have a disk in the tray.

If not, then you also hit the p.scan button.
Hit that button 2-3 times till you get the picture back.
I have the same model and it works wonderful, but you need the remote control to record. connect cable from video out on recorder to video in on you tv. at least you'll be able to play the dvd. If this doesn't work it's because you need the remote to set the date and time features.
