There is a black box on the screen, that we can not get rid of.
If we push on buttons it disappears, but comes back on as soon as the button is released.
We have read the manual and can not find the solution.

Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote to used.U will used the tv original remote to turn to channel 3 with ease. After u have the tv original remote push the menu button go into Closed Captioning functions turn off like TEXT 1,2,3...The big black box will not appear on the screen again.Tv used it manually control buttons up and down channels trying to get to channel 3.U will never get it to tv channel 3 because tv channel 3 was not save on it memory list of on the tv turn manually channels buttons programming memory.Tv have a manual button said MEMU button on it tv front bazel frame?Yes.Might could used the Menu button on the tv frame to get in to turn off TEXT 1,2,3...to stop the big black box to show up on the tv screen again.
You will need to find the close caption feature in the menu adjustments and turn it OFF. You should do it for all the individual channels that have it activated.
The problem with the black box happened to me. I had pushed the subtitle button on my remote by mistake. Interestingly enough, as soon as I pushed the SUBTITLE key again, on the remote, the black boxes disappeared.
It also says CC which means closed captioned-- So the bottom on my remote is Subtitle, and then on the subtitle button is cc...
The black box is there because your closed captioning is on and set to text mode. Some channels send the signal even when there is no actual text to display. You can get rid of it by either turning off closed captioning or changing it to CC1 or CC2 mode instead of text. If you can't find those settings, then restore factory settings as directed in your user manual.
On the reomte control (bottom) left of the sleep button is a cc button, push that until "OFF" appears on the screen. The close caption box should disappear. It worked for me, finally.
