Restart your computer during the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the delete or F2 key

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

note this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system

note after you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to failsafe or optimised defaults

after windows has loaded

your computer will automatically restart it might restart 2 times one to finish the installation

the next will be because the operating system is loaded and will boot from your cd

hope this helps

Winlocker/Yosafe - Hard drive from old Acer now in external case.

if you had , HDD encryption enabled and old PC is dead
there is no access, now. that is the #1 goal of using encryption so others can not steal your data, A#1 GOAL
if drive is good it can be erased, but no hdd label presented
so I can look at makers site for the methods
winlocker is and app on ACER PC, and is now gone.
so there is no fix to get data.
why not ask winlocker , for help, they may have fix if you know the Password but that is only 1/2 the cure, the key is lost. (in ACER)
or ask here

https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/564157/winlocker

OMG that is you there asking the same thing, so..... (GRIN)
that is right it is Illegalll to ask for PW hacks at most OEM sites.
even laws to not allow that.
ask at winlocker. (i guess is Acer owned)
encryption tools are a double edged sword
one edge stops the thief.
the other stops you.
see? that means stay backed up or not use winlocker.

or fix the bad dead ACER first.
then turn off winlocker
there is your best answer fix the Acer.

Hi! my comp is nfected with a trojan masquerading as a security tool. it keeps popping dlhost.exe is infected with virus DOS.Jeff.812 this worm is trying to send our credit card details using dlhost.exe...

First try this but be careful:
To remove Trojan, you must first stop any Trojan processes that are running in your computer's memory. To stop all Trojan processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for Trojan, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.

To delete Trojan registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Trojan." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete."

Finally, to completely get rid of Trojan, you must manually remove other Trojan files. These Trojan files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, Trojan might create a file like
%PROGRAM_FILES%\Trojan\Trojan.exe. Locate and remove these files.

OR

If you can pass to the Windows interface you can run a Trojan remover like this one Trojan Remover at cNET. If not do it manually, instructions HERE

If your OS is Windows go to this link by Microsoft Online Scanner
also this one is a good one from TenMicro HouseCall

Operating System infected by Trojan Horse. My

Restart your computer, and keep pressing F8, until you get the Windows "start-up" menu -- white text over a black background.
Choose "Safe Mode", and see if you can logon.

Then, try one (or more) of the anti-virus scanners listed at:
http://www.facebook.com/security?v=app_10442206389

Or, follow the "best practises" recommended by Microsoft:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx
and backup your data files, reinstall Windows & your anti-virus software,
and reload your data files.

Acer Aspire One Netbook has trojan hose viruses.

First of all, how do u know it has a trojan? Which antivirus are u using? Do u know whats the name of the trojan?
Most trojans can be removed easily with any antivirus, some are worst but our AV friends work hard on it and develop utilities to remove them, I dont think u need to reinstall windows xp, but in the case u would, u do need the cd to do it.

I have upgraded from Norton internet security suite 2005 to the 2008 edition. My computer keeps freezing up and crashing. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program to no avail. Norton also keeps...

Trojans can be tough to get rid of, the best solution is to reinstall Windows xp, then try installing norton again. Reinstalling windows will rid your computer of whatever program or cookie that contains the trojan. Then norton should take over and keep these forms of malware at bay.

Have you done an antivirus scan to remove the trojan?

http://free.grisoft.com has a great tool for personal use.
