Access Screen Each time I attempt to turn on my camera, I get a black screen that says "Access" and the camera powers off. I've tried removing the batteries for a few hours, and reseting the camera to factory specs, but so far nothing has worked for me. Any tips?

Hello, When the camera shows this it tries to acces the lens mechanism, in terms of extending the lens and/or powering on the ccd sensor. Failure in doing so will result in an error code or simply by having the camera not showing anything else at all. Therefore the camera has a problem with the lens assembly. It's the most common problems with digital cameras. However this can only be solved in a service center because dissasembling the camera yourself will risk lens assembly damage, as they are very delicate equipment. I suggest you go to a service center, not the larger ones working for corporations, instead a smaller generic one. Ask them a price estimation before they actually repair it. Repairs may varry from a simple lens readjustment to the replacing of the whole lens assembly, this can get expensive on sony models. Please reply if you have further questions. Good luck with the fix and sorry for not being able to assist you with a quick fix.

Turning on the camera.

You can try to remove the battery to allow the circuitry to reset to factory defaults. If that do not work, I would suggest to get repair under manufacturers warranty. Most electronics devices have one year warranty.
Good Luck.

I also had blown capacitors on my power supply. You can see when they're bad: the tops split or bubble up like a dome. I changed most of the caps, just to be sure, and it fixed the problem. Careful of the larger capacitors. They stay powered for some time and can shock you pretty badly. Good Luck

Black screen

Hi,

Turn the power off and on again message is displayed when the Lens mechanism is stuck or when there is an internal malfunction. To resolve the issue, try turning off and on the power for few times. If the issue persists, try power resetting the Camera.
To power reset the Camera, remove the battery from the Camera. Press and hold the power button of the Camera for 30 seconds. Remain the Camera without power for 60 seconds and reinsert the battery to check the operation.
You can also try Initializing the Camera by selecting the INITIALIZE option from the SETUP1 Menu of the Camera.
If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa
