Hello.... i have purchased a cd player on ebay for my car - a kenwood dpx 440 . The cd player works well as does the tape deck. The radio is causing me problems on the FM band.
From the time i connected it the radio goes from 76.0 to 90.0 FM and then back to 76.0. I have changed the aerial and have tried pushing most buttons but i am unalbe to get any of the stations above those to frequencys. It picks up two staions between the two points. The AM works as normal.
I think it came out of a imported vehicle although i am not 100%. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
HELLO...YESD YOU DID GET IT FROM AN IMPORTED VEHICLE. BECAUSE MINE IS THE SAME AS YOURS...THE FM BAND IN JAPAN IS RANGING FROM 76.0 TO 90.0FM.... UNFORTUNATLEY THERE ISNOT MUCH YOU CAN DO, OTHER THAN TO PURCHASE ANOTHER HEADUNIT..

If it's got bluetooth, you can buy a little aux to bluetooth 3.0 off ebay.
If not it looks like a cassette tape adaptor is worth a shot.
If either one of those don't work fm transmitter is an option, I would stay away from those little ones you plug inot the 12v. Good ones can run you a 50+ and the work in some cars and not others. I would find one that Y's into the antanna at the back of the raido.
I dunno if the manual will help you with not being able to tune the radio past 90.0 on the FM dial, but here is a link: http://www.manual-buddy.com/p/kenwood/dpx5200m-user-manual.html I apologize for not being able to find a freebie copy. Is probably out there on the interwebs somewhere, but I can't find it today.
When electronics screw up like that, it is very likely they are simply shot. Broken. Munched. Kaboodled. History. Maybe use the $5 USD they want for that user manual to buy gas to drive to WalMart and buy a new one.
Actually, yes! That could very well damage any unit without a protection mode. Unfortunately, in my long time experience in car audio, a deck that spits cd's out has a damaged or misaligned laser lens. This could be caused by driving to fast through pot holes, speedbumps, or going down train tracks. Find an electronics repair shop locally to see if having it repaired will out weigh a new deck. I found one new in box on ebay for $89 + shipping.
same problem with mine
