When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your Peugeot service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

SOURCE: how can i exchange a peugeot 206 factory fitted
Just use the special keys and pull it to yourself. The terminals must be unplugged and then insert the new one. Before that, plugg terminals again. It's very simple operation.
Don't forget the new radio maybe ask for code. Try to get it when buy the new one...

Your code should be either 3728 or 1728, depending on whether your radio will accept a 1 or 0 as its first digit.

SOURCE: bought a peugeot 206 no code for stereo
First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere
within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)
To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be
removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the
code on the casing ) .
If not then POST A BRAND NEW QUESTION
quoting the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on
ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING
Also quote the MAKE of CAR
note: Unfortunately not all radios can be decoded using the
Serial Number
Otherwise try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a
Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip
(EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive
