Signal Strength The phone was working fine until about a week ago. Then started to notice complete lack of signal strength. Tried a different sim from different carrier with the same result. Sometimes depending on the location, the phone shows full signal, however as soon as a phone call is attempted signal just drops to nothing dropping the call.

You may also discover that the machine's internal memory is full or you have a very large number or programs open. This can be a cause of stuttering calls. Try a soft reset or the slightly more complex hard reset. Look at the O2 website for a ROM update (that will possibly improve the phone's "Radio" stack i.e the program that processes the phone signal). If you are feeling brave you could upgrade your phone rom after reading all the relevant details on XDAdevelopers site http://wiki.xda-developers.com/

This problem usually happens when you drop the phone and the antenna gets out of her place, then it's only has signal in near the operator antenna, I suggest you take it to a professional who will look at it.shouldn't cost too much

Can make calls, but all of a sudden can not receive them. was fine a week ago.

  • Check your signal strength to determine if you are in a low signal area and receiving a signal.
  • Check that your calls are not being forwarded to another number:
  • Phones have a menu feature which lets you cancel all existing diverts
  • If the problem persists, consult your phone carriers support service.

How do I increase the signal strength of my Palm Centro?

The bars show relative signal strength.

If the Motorola is on the same provider, it is the Palm smartphone that is the fault. It may just be you got a less than sensitive one. You should probably contact Palm and see if there is anything they can do short of exchanging it, otherwise exchange it and keep exchanging them until you get one that works. In mass production- these things happen.

If the Motorola is with a different carrier, that may be the difference- they are line of sight devices and the provider you have for the Palm may not have an antenna in your vicinity pointed in the correct direction for you. Which means complaining to the carrier since you know the external antenna works, but the Palm does not.

My hcl laptop with winxp shows very weak wireless signal strength at just 2 metre from the modem though other devices show complete signal strength. the device manager shows no problems with the hardware....

You can try this solution
  1. Right-click on the 'My Computer' icon on your computer and choose 'Properties'.
  2. Click on the 'Hardware' tab and then click on the 'Device Manager'.
  3. Now, find the 'Network Adapters' section and click on the little plus-sign to the left.
  4. Find your wireless network adapter and right-click on it and choose 'Properties'.
  5. This is where things will get different depending on the brand of your laptop and wireless card and which drivers you have installed. Browse through the different tabs and look for settings such as 'Power Management' or 'Transmit Power'. Adjust the settings to either disable the power management or increase the amount of power used by the network card.
  6. Now, test your wireless signal strength to see if you still have the same weak wireless signal you had before. The chances are that you will notice an increased wireless signal strength.

V9 works fine in town but over the first hill-5ks no reception.Have v3 which shows 5 bars where this shows none.Settings are on auto so if anything there I should get it.Tried all combination settings...

Hello,
Since the v9 works fine in town, then it simply means, it is not receiving any signal from the hill.
It has a weak signal strength and might receive little or no signal at all from the hill. So for hill tops, try using another phone, but for town use, you can use the v9.
The phone is not in any way faulty, it just is not built to receive signals from such heights. If you have the phone checked, you will not detect any fault simply because the phone is not faulty.
Take care and good luck

LG viewty phone

I bought this same phone off ebay but they will not work properly in North America.I have talked to different sources and the most important Network band here is(gsm850) which this phone does not have, so in North America you get a very weak signal strength.

Fading Signal Strength

could be a worn rf modulator
this controls the radio frequencies.
If you are having trouble with dropping calls that last for a little longer than normal 1-2 mins then that would be my guess
