You´re just right: Finallizing is a delicate procedure because you never know exactly how long it takes. If there is any interruption, the whole data is lost forever. That´s why finalizing should always be done with the AC-plug. Get it repaired and put this rabbit to court (smile). Best wishes Norbert
hi there. well my friend, the only way that you can finalize a dvd is on the SCREEN CAMERA MENU. you can find it navigating in the menu or read the user manual. then the dvd will be able to play on any dvd player or pc. good luck
If you have the user's guide, It's on page 37 in the Owner's Manual. --Press 'SETUP' --Scroll to select 'DISK EDIT' --Press 'OK' --Scroll to select 'FINALIZE' --Press 'OK' --Scroll to select 'YES' --Press 'OK' --Finalizing begins!
to finalize the disk for enabling discs to be played on other devices.
Connect this unit to the AC adaptor. Finalization cannot be executed using a battery.
Rotate the mode dial to select the arrow.
Press the MENU button, then select SETUP, FINALIZE, YES and press the joystick. Select whether or not to create a top menu, then press the joystick. When the confirmation message appears, select YES then press the joystick.
hope this helps you. julie
I'm not sure if you'd already tried this...but I hope this helps.
The camcorder can only finalize a disc if it is powered by the AC power adapter....according to p.61 of the users manual, the (finalize) operation cannot be started if the camcorder is powered only with the battery pack.
Finalizing a disc is a software issue. When you start to burn a disc there's a check box that will say something like "Finalize Disc" or "Allow no further recording to this disc". Depends on the software. Personally, I use Nero.
on standard players. The write all the information that a standard player looks for to read the disk. Nothing is lost if you take the DVD out of the recorder without finalizing it. On a PC, you would tell the software to eject the disk. Later model hardware can usually reopen a disk after it has been finalized.
Is this a typo? 'I know that the disc cannot be seen in a DVD player after being finalized'. It should read;
I know that the disc can be seen in a DVD player after being finalized
