Your camera is capable of ISO adjustments from 100 to 1600. Photos taken at ISO 100 require the longest exposures and will have the best quality color and least amount of graininess. This setting should be used as often as possible and is ideal for well lit subjects. Conversely, ISO 1600 is for low light situations. Photos taken with the camera set to this value will have muddied colors and much more graininess in them. This is often preferred to having no photo at all.

The down side to this camera - like most point & shoot ("P&S") types, is the fact the the light sensor that actually captures the image from the lens, is quite small. Small sensors have difficulty rendering acceptable photos when taken at high ISO settings. It is not unusual for P&S cameras to perform unacceptably at ISO 400 and up. Reviews I have seen on your camera back this up. Basically, ISO 100 and 200 are the only values that provide acceptable photos. You should experiment with the entire range of ISO under different lighting conditions to see which situations and ISOs are acceptable to you.

Your camera makes use of icons to access menus and they do not show up well on FixYa, so I will need direct you to an online manual that you can view or download. It can be found here.

Chapter 3 (begins on Page 16) talks about camera menu settings. Your should review this chapter, and pay particular attention to "ISO" on page 20. You will learn how to select ISO 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1600 on the camera.

I hope this helps & good luck!

My 1d refuses to allow me to change iso or other changes

Do you have custom settings enabled? If so, disable them. Your ISO could be automatically adjusting to meet available light levels.

Press the ISO button and the current ISO should be displayed in the top LCD window. Use the wheel right next to the ISO button to change the ISO.

Unable to set iso

The AUTO setting is just that--automatic. The camera controls almost everything, including the ISO setting. If you want more control, switch to the P setting. This works just like AUTO, except you can change or override any other setting.

How do i change the iso settings?

To change the ISO setting: press the F button to display the F-menu. Use cursor-up/down to select "ISO" and press cursor-right.

In general you want the ISO as low as possible in order to keep the noise down as much as possible. However, in low-light situations or photographing fast-moving subjects, low ISO values may lead to excessive blurring. In such situations you may want to use higher values since a noisy picture is better than no picture.

ISO AUTO ERROR

Need more information regarding your question.

If your error is about your images being brighter/darker whenever you shoot at different locations, then this is a normal feature when using Auto setting for your ISO. The exposure will always slightly change whenever the ISO changes.

If your problem is about too much noise, then this is a normal problem when you use very high ISO on the D80. You can remedy this by setting the max ISO to 400 but you will not be able to take non-flash pics in darker environments.

If your problem is the ISO levels do not go up a certain setting, change your MAX ISO setting to a higher number like 1600. At this setting, the pictures will be grainy and have a lot of noise so I recommend you convert the output to black and white.

Underexposed image on Auto mode

You can change the ISO setting also to Auto. If you have the advanced guide (see pp 80, 107).
Press the ISO button it will switch from various ISO setting to AUTO.

Do remember in Bright light , a lower ISO number like 80 will give you very fine images, while as the light level goes down, the ISO number will change to a higher number and the image will become more grainer.
I hope I could answer to your query.
Please do rate. Thanks

How do i change ISO/ASA on the nikon N65?

The ISO is automatically set by the DX code on your film canister - if there is no code, the camera sets ISO 100. If you load canisters yourself with, say ISO 400 film, you can adjust the exposure using the exposure compensation button at the top right side of the LCD ( " +/- " ). Using ISO 400 film set the +/- to minus 2 ( -2 ) so that it will UNDEREXPOSE 2 stops since the film is 2 stops ( 4X ) more sensitive than ISO 100 film.

Canon A720 IS

The camera will not let you do this in "Auto" mode. Instead try P (Program) mode. This mode is actually the same as Auto mode, except it allows you to change some of the other settings, such as ISO.

Also don't be afraid to explore using your other mode settings. The A720 is an awesome camera with many capabilities.
