Question about Hotpoint RGB745 Gas Kitchen Range
I have a hotpoint RGB745. 2 of my burners were not working unless i lit them with a match- a third burner worked, but had really weird, violent flames that sounded like wind. I cleaned around the electrode with a q-tip, and i used a twist tie to make sure the small holes in the burner heads were clear. I also used the twist tie, gently, on the holes where the gas comes from. I did this to all of them. Now, i've run out of matches. So, i turned on the broiler, and lit a small wooden stick, and i've tried lighting each burner that way since the ignitor is not working. What this has accomplished is the following; two of the burners light when lighted with this makeshift "match"- but, when i turn the knob from the ignition to high (or medium, or low) the flame goes out. no more than one will stay lit at once. I see sparks at the ignitor when i try to ignite but it won't ignite the flame. And, when i light it with my "match" as described above, the flame is thin and about 6-8 inches high. Kind of like a taper candle. Also, when i shut the door of my oven (broiler was on, remember?) the flame went out. Help?

Not sure, but sounds like you may have a gas pressure problem or the stove is set-up for the wrong type of gas.
