Try charging it, if not plug it onto the Garmin updater manager and update the device software.

if still not working, ask a specialist in the sat nav store they should give you all the details and paperwork to help

Hello,

Your unit may be completely dead tyr cahrging it in the vehicle using the cord provided, some USB ports wont have enough power to charge or keep the unit on.

My garmin 1300 went completly dead while on a route with the power cord attached. Unpluged tried again . Now its working. Is this normal?
A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes on 'loading maps,' or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

Garmin Nuvi 660 shut itself off and will not turn back on
Hi Sherry,

The unit should not get warm, unless the battery was fully discharged or maybe shorted out. Most likely a part has failed on the main board.

Sounds like the internal battery needs charging. Have you connected it to a car charger?

Garmin gps 12 wont turn on.
Sorry to hear of the dead units. Are you using the correct power cable with a small hole in the centre of the plug? The GPS 12 is strictly limited to 7 volts only. The accessory cigarette lighter cable for this model has a circuit inside to drop the voltage from 12 to 7. Cannot be fixed. There would have been a plastic peg in the back of the GPS socket to prevent anything but the correct voltage Garmin cable being plugged in. Unfortunately these pegs are easily broken off. Yes, they are a good little unit even though well on in years. The next model up - the 12XL - can accept a wide voltage range and does not have the plastic peg.

Garmin 305 wont power on, wont charge on cradle
Same thing happened to mine. Put the unit in the cradle (just like you are going to recharge it) and press the reset and mode button at the same time for 3 seconds. This will "wake" the unit up.

Garmin c340 went black and can't get it working
The battery was completely dead. I must not have had the cord plugged in to my lighter, or maybe it wasn't sitting properly on the cradle, and it was running on battery power. I found that when I charged it by the computer, it was ok. It is working with no problems, now.
