Whirlpool DU945 Dishwasher won't turn on but has power

Our DU945 dishwasher has a problem with the control pad. When you press the normal option, both the normal and heavy lights come on. The dishwasher has 5 selections for washing and none are working when start is pressed. Please let us know if there is a reset for this problem

same problem... there is power to the dishwasher (ie, lights for all buttons have lights); cancel/drain button will result in dishwasher trying to drain. But, if you push the start button it simply will not start

If you have recently had a power surge or outage the chances are your thermal fuse has blown. It is located in the door of the machine. The fuse is white, u shaped with 2 prongs. One wire goes to the latch assembly, the other to the board. It is clipped onto the board housing. The part # is 675813. It costs about $16.00. I just swapped mine out and the dishwasher is working just fine. I hope this helps.

Whirlpool Dishwasher model# DU1100XTPT6 stopped working mid-cycle and now unresponsive no lights on touch-pad.

Is your dishwasher hard wired into the house power system ... or plugged into a wall outlet under the kitchen sink?
You mentioned you turned off the power ... how? via the circuit breaker or disconnecting it from the wall? If your unit is plugged into an outlet (and you depowered by cutting the breaker) ... I would check the cord and outlet .. it might be as simple as that.
If that is not the problem ... trying a reset.
Below is a generic one for Whirpools which may work on your model
To reset it, you will have to have the door open. It can not be latched. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal," "Heated Dry," "Normal" within three seconds of the first pressed button. Now close the door, this should reset your dishwasher.
Good luck on your troubleshooting!

I have a whirlpool DU1145 dishwasher that seems to be stuck on the same cycle. It shows it as sensing and washing at the same time and never shuts off. HELP! WHat could becausing this??

Sounds like your Touch Pad on the Control Panel is defective.

You can try and remove the 120 Volt AC power from the Dishwasher by turning it off at your Main Electrical Power Panel with the Circuit Breaker (15 or 20 amp) labeled: Dishwasher .

Leave the Dishwasher turned "Off" for 10 minutes. This will allow the control circuits on the Dishwasher to reset. Turn on the Dishwasher and press Cancel and attempt to Drain the Dishwasher. If this works...then try to enter a Rinse Only cycle and if that works... then attempt to enter a Wash Cycle.

If you still have your original problems then you probably have a defective:
(1) Touch Pad Assembly (or possibly a defective)
(2) Electronic Control Module (ECM)

you may have inadvertently set the lock on function..
check this out from your manual...

Lock On
Use the Lock On to prevent unintended use of the dishwasher
between cycles. You can also use the lock feature to prevent
unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle.
When LOCK ON is lit, all buttons are disabled.
NOTE: The dishwasher door can be opened while the controls
are locked. However, the lock must be turned off and the Start/
Resume button pressed to resume the cycle.
To turn on the Lock
Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. LOCK ON glows.
If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light
flashes 3 times.
NOTE: If the Heated Dry option is selected, the light will
temporarily turn off until Lock On glows.
To turn off the Lock
Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. The light turns off.

hope this helps,
best of luck,
