Question about Saeco Magic De Luxe Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Everything seems to work but no coffee

Water flows evenly when I prime the machine, but when i try to make espresso, it grinds the beans, etc etc. but NOTHING comes out. Then the water light blinks indicating the machine needs to be primed. When I do, there clearly is some additional pressure because the first water that comes out of the nozzle does it in almost a burst. When I open the coffee grinds disposable thingie, the coffee dumped in there hasn't been moistened at all. I tried descaling the machine - no go.

COFFEE COMES OUT TOO FAST

Try making your coffee a finer grind. The finer the grind of the beans, the slower the water will flow through the beans. Also fresher beans will make the water flow slower due to the moisture and oil content in the beans.

Beans grind and are wet but coffee doesn't come out... it goes through the cycle and spits out a little. When cycle is complete, the water light comes on, but after priming the same thing occurs.

This tells me that either the grind is too fine and or the brew unit screen, and discharge tube needs to be cleaned. Try this first press the button for making a espresso using the manual function, do not add coffee through the door then press the brew button. If water flows freely then the grind is too fine, if you get the water prime error then the screen under the red o-ring on the brew unit needs to be cleaned.

Hi Bill
What happens when you do a tea ? (hot water only, NOT the steam button) do you also get little water ?
The fact that you are getting steam is good as there are 2 heating systems in the unit.
Have you ran the descaling recently (if you do not use filter ) ?
If you have or use a filter the problem is likely to be at the rear of the machine, however the back contents all the power and you will need to be happy to do some stripping down of the machine,
In the back you have the pump, valves, heater etc.
I am just about to draw up a flow chart of the water system inside the machine and have it published online (couple of days).
Are you happy to strip machine down ?

Red warning light comes on in my saeco vienna deluxe I just aquired this unit and to date have not been able to make a cup of coffee. All the green lights light up and coffee starts grinding but after that...

Hi
More than likely your grind is to fine and you are using oily beans (shiney). There is a small knob in the bean hopper. turn it down to the minus side. Turn the big knob to the # 18. If that doesn't work you are going to have to take the grinder apart and clean it.

My Saeco won't grind the beans

There's moisture in the grinder & it's clogged - just dismantle the grinder & clean it, then ensure you don't splash water into the bean hopper when you fill the water tank.

Weak coffee shots

Need a decent grinder or a deft hand with a blade frinder, fresh espresso coffee beans and not too much water. Espresso grind is closer to turkish than drip. Much like Melitta grind. If needed a good coffee shop will grind it for you. A week suppply is preferable. If quantity of water can be adjusted, one shot is about 1&3/4 oz. a double shot, well x2=3.5 oz. You cannot get a six ounces espresso and still call it that; its dilluted or "allonge". A latte w/o milk. Let me know
