My cable company provides a Motorola 4 device remote DRC-800 (Audio/DVD-VCR/TV/Cable). I recently aquired a big screen LCD TV (LG) with the above mentioned Yamaha HTR-6130 sound system. My problem is, the few codes provided with the Motorola remote for Yamaha audio amps/audio amp tuners do not work and there are no Yamaha codes for the Home Theatre in a box section. So, I am forced to keep on switching between remotes rather than using just one. Any suggestions on what I could do to find a code for my cable company Motorola remote

Your problem is not the Yamaha reciever. You need to figure out how to switch your tv remote to the inputs you have tried to plug the Wii into, Your TV remote should have some sort of "source" or "input" selection button, or it may have a row of buttons that are labled. Without knowing the brand of your TV or seeing the remote, I can't be more specific, but clearly this is a tv issue. You could also use the video out on your 5.1 reciever, but first solve the tv remote issue. Keith
Yamaha remote has ability to control other devices (TV, DVD, cable box, ...) only by pre-defined set of models. Look up in your manual to the Yamaha where you will find list of manufacturers and models of devices with corresponding codes. If you can find your model there, program it into the remote. If not, you can try some of the other codes, at least program +/- and other simple functions should be quite compatible among brands.
I had similar problem when setting up the YAMAHA remote control for my NEC LCD TV. At the end I found I did not follow the YAMAHA manual properly. Did you hold down the DTV/CBL button, and AT THE SAME TIME press the AV POWER for 3+ seconds? You should be able to "REMOTE SETUP OK" displayed in the front panel of the YAMAHA AV receiver. Hope this helps. BTW, only the TV POWER, TV MUTE and the numeric buttons work in my case.
The HTR-6130 cannot decode HDMI audio. It can only act as an HDMI switch. To get the audio from the cable box to be output from the HTR-6130, you will need a separate audio connection (e.g. RCA cable).
Is Yamaha HTR-640 a receiver? Try HDMI from PS3 to receiver or Sony HDTV. If HDMI from PS3 to receiver the you need and HDMI from receiver to out Sony HDTV. You could connect everything to receiver and HDMI out to HDTV. You can not have an HDMI cable AND an optical cable coming out of the PS3, only one or the other.
