My system runs the error message that the tempature is to low to operate the system. it will do this all day long. the screen will go off and then the error message pops back up 20 seconds later. accourse all of this happen right when the warranty runs out. what a strange conincedence ,right.?
I had a Roadmate 700 with the same problem as yours, and the solution was simple: the hard drive inside had come loose!
All I did was open up the unit (4 screws on the back and a small snap-together clip on the end), and plugged the hard drive back into the cable. The cable has 2 black posts that fit into the hard drive, so you can't misalign the pins. On mine, the hard drive label was facing UP.
Once the hard drive was plugged in, I powered up, and could hear the hard drive spin up (which I hadn't heard before). The unit booted from the "Magellan" screen right into the menu almost immediately!
Hope this helps someone!!

RE: Solution 2, Where is the temperature sensor located?

Dan , my RM700 updated to 760 gives this message when I use it on a motorcycle in 80F. deg weather "temperature too low for unit to operate--turn on the heat". Works fine in a car and feels very warm to the touch. I like it alot other then I wish I could use it on my cycle. Bought a Magellan Explorist 500 to use on the cycle which works fine but I can't see the screen details very well since it is smaller and I have poor closeup vision. Would a CrossoverGPS 2500T work for well on both the cycle and car? The 2500t and the 700 have the same operating temps listed .Thanks, Rob

Hah.. yes that is a strange coincedence. When this error appears, you can try to find someone else's unit and use it for spare parts. If you can find another unit to salvage from, then first change out the LCD w/attached thermometer wires. next to change is the hard drive. which, without having the software DVD can't be completed. I'm sorry Jerome but. there's not too much you can do with this error. -Daniel
