Cant remember exactly but i think that is probable blood incorrectly put onto test strip, probably before meter is ready. You have to wait for the little drop of blood to appear on the display.

1 too hot or cold
2 sample not detected or using wrong strip
3 used strip, stip out too long or blood on top of strip
4 meter error call for help
5 very high blood glucose (600+)
6 strip removed during test
8 memory error, result not recorded
9 communication error.. call for help

Hi. Mine cost around 20 dollars, and the more expensive ones can be 70 dollars. You could also try one of the companies that gives the meter away for free (Don't think they're just being generous. They make their money from selling the glucose strips you need for the meter.)
