Question about Panasonic KX-FPC141 Plain Paper Thermal Fax
I have the exact problem-I've owned this phone/fax/copier since Jan. 2000 and all of a sudden on 12/11/07 no dial tone, can't hear through handset without plugging in ear phones. I can make calls using the handset, the party can hear me, I can't hear them. I tried calling their 800 number and they want to charge me to get technical assistance because it's out of warranty.

Actually, the problem is that I can't hear ANYTHING without the earpiece; including dial tone. The solution above makes the ringer louder, but no other sound or dial tone from the handset, yet.
Thanks, just the same, though.
Any other suggestions? Is the handset just broken?

Can't hear dial tone or voice of caller on handset, but it rings and beeps normally--so the handset speaker is working. Speaker phone and headset work fine, so line in-out is okay. It seem as if the handset's volume is turned down all the way, accept I've tried turning it up by pressing "loud/ringer" during a conversation but to no avail.
Suggestions anyone?
