Panasonic kx-fpc141 With my handset for my panasonic kx-fpc141, I cannot hear anything unless I use an ear plugged into the handset. Everything else seems to work fine. If its an issue of the volume setting for the handset, I can't figure out where the settings are.

Actually, the problem is that I can't hear ANYTHING without the earpiece; including dial tone. The solution above makes the ringer louder, but no other sound or dial tone from the handset, yet.

    Thanks, just the same, though.

Any other suggestions? Is the handset just broken?

I have the exact problem- I've owned this phone/fax/copies since Jan. 2000 and all of a sudden on 12/11/07 no dial tone, can't hear through handset without plugging in ear phones. I tried calling their 800 number and they want to charge me to get technical assistance because it's out of warranty.

Can't hear dial tone or voice of caller on handset, but it rings and beeps normally--so the handset speaker is working. Speaker phone and headset work fine, so line in-out is okay. It seem as if the handset's volume is turned down all the way, accept I've tried turning it up by pressing "loud/ringer" during a conversation but to no avail.

    Suggestions anyone?

How do I install my Panasonic KXTGA401 phone?

The KX-TGA401 is a handset for specific Panasonic cordless telephone systems. Connecting the handset requires registering (pairing) it with the base and if the base can support another handset. First make sure that the base is plugged into an active phone line (land line) and that the power adapter is plugged in and working properly. Charge the handset before attempting the registration process.

Then make sure that the phone system is in standby (no calls). Press and hold the Locator button on the base for about 5 seconds (wait until the tone sounds). If all of the handsets that are already registered ring, press and release the Locator button and then press and hold it again. Once you hear the registration tone (some models), place the new handset in the charger on the base. Wait for the long beep and the registered symbol to appear.

If the not registered symbol appears, try registering by using the handset menu. Press Menu # 1 3 0 (the key below 9 and individual number keys) on the handset. Press and hold the locator button until you hear the registration tone as above. Then press Select and Save on the handset within 90 seconds of hearing the registration tone. Wait for the handset and base to complete the registration process. You'll hear a long beep.

The first registration method is given in the manual for the handset, The second is from the page 31 of the manual for the KX-TG653x (KX-TG6531 base) system, . The KX-TGA401 handset works with other bases as well. You may want to check the manual for your phone system in case there are differences. Other compatible phone systems are the KX-TG401x, KX-TG403x, and KX-TG651x.

I hope this helps.

(I make sure that the land line is active by checking for dial tone with an old corded phone.)

I have a Panasonic KX-TGA652 dual handset no answering machine. The problem I have is the 1st handset "the base set", doesn't seem to work properly, the 2nd handset works 100% fine. The problem is this,...

Id try the following in this order:

  1. Try swapping batteries with another set and see if the problem follows the battery
  2. Try re-registering the handset, they could of missed one at the factory. that is done by selecting menu->initial settings->register handset
If this doesn't work, then return for warranty/exchange. Mine seem to work great right out of the box.
the poodle guy!

Very weak voice on cordless handset.

All speakers have a magnet in them, over time magnets lose the ability to create magnetic waves.

My new Panasonic cordless phone handset is not working. I can hear sound but the other terminal can not hear anything

The mic for the handset was not soldered correctly.
After re-soldering it, the handset worked perfect.

Ear piece not functioning

Yes that is a problem I see, but to be very candid it should not be related to the battery replacement, and more from getting bumped around. Did you happen to move? Nevertheless, it is usually from an internal component failure or solder break inside the phone (unless your volume is turned down, but even at the lowest level its audible). Did you happen to use a headset? Sometimes excessive tension from the headset cable will break the receive circuit you could check the solder joints. But to be candid, it sounds as if you need to send it in for repair. You can find some options by googling ... Panasonic cordless telephone repair. The kx-tc1484b is a nice phone, good range, and normally very durable, certainly worth fixing.
