Your monitor must have multiple inputs (Dvi,D-sub) so it searches when you start for which input is connected.
If menu popping up intemittently is your problem,The culprit is generally defective (Leaky) Key switches. You need to pen up monitor and replace.
Normally BenQ has a 3 year warranty.

The benq Monitor FP222W automatically shutdown

Check if you dont have a timer shutdown on the menu.

Electronical Problem:
When it have this kind of error is a problem of the powerboard.
Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them.

But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard.

Good luck!

(When connecting D-Sub cable) Check the signal cable connection. (When connecting DVI cable) If you still see an error message on the screen when the monitor is connected properly, check to see if the monitor status is set to analog. Press Source button to have the monitor double-check the input signal source.

Source button Activates a highlighted menu item.

Benq fp222w monitor switches on but black screen no backlight what parts need replacing to fix pls

If there's no backlighting but you can see the image anyway, then your monitor might have a defective inverter. The inverter is responsible for providing power to the backlight, so if it is defective, the light won't work and it might need to be replaced.
An LCD inverter looks something like this:

You can easily find inverters for sale online, but be careful: you have to find the exact same inverter for your monitor, or it may not work.

I cant get correct resolution with windows 7 no apparent drivers of FP 222w under windows 7 (22 inch monitor)

You normally don't need any drivers for LCD monitors. The resolution should be 1440><900 or higher.

Benq FP222W The monitor switches on and shows the Benq logo, then screen goes black.Tested on 2 computers and still not working.

A bit late I know, but I have the same monitor with the same problem - see here . Problem with mine was one of the backlight assemblies had died. No mean feat to replace these. If you can do it yourself it'll probably cost around $50, otherwise it's for the scrapheap.

The monitor switches on and shows benq logo, then screen goes black.Tested on 2 computers and still not working. Have changed capacitors on board but still nothing.

After changing the caps, do you get steady 12~18vdc feeding the inverter circuits? Inverter fuse OK? It can be bad transformers, or lamps also. Pictures will be great help. See where I post my pictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Can't find video signal

If screen says "Signal cable not connected " all the time till power led switches to Amber chances are monitor is ok and problem is with graphic card or cpu.Connect to Known working CPU and confirm that monitor is the problem.
If same problem persists on another working cpu after changing signal cable, the interface board in the monitor could be defective.
