The engine is mint in box but has been in the attic for 46 years.
This is the first time I ever removed the cover since 1956 when I bought it. I just lubricated it and it runs great but the horn only hums/buzzes when when I hit the button on the transformer. I am running it on fast track. I don't know if that makes a difference in horn performance.
I would appreciate any in you have to solve this issue.
Thanks,
John
The horn has a screw in it to adjust the pitch. Try adjusting it to see if you get sound.

you may have to use a Lionel transformer for this because some older trains worked on AC current not the DC current that this train uses

bad track connection.... clean the track with dry scotchbite pad, then wipe with soft cloth, or the connection pins are loose in the track. tighten with needle nose pliers

Just wanted to add a note to this problem you are having....Question is this...How big is the train layout and how many power clips do you have on the track??
Reason is being if you only have one power clip for the whole track, you will notice a decrease (slowdown) of the train in certain area(s) so i would recommend adding another power clip or two to your layout, also If you are using old regular O track, make sure you have the metal pins in all 3 railsHope this helps

Dear Fix ya,
Yes, the issue still exists but I'm not interested in any plan to fix it because I will figure it out. It's just a matter of time and finding the wiring and parts service manual. I was just interested in finding out if someone else could share a similar issue and resolution with me without making a buck.
Thank you.
