I plug in my plasma tv and the standby light turns green and it makes a clicking sound but it never turns on. After about 10 seconds the clicking sound stops and the green light turns red. I press the power button and nothing happens. My TV just went over warranty which makes this problem that much crappier. How convenient. Please help me.
My Sony plasma 50PX2 is doing the same thing. It began after I heard a loud pop and turned off. The pop turned out to be a blown 4A 250V fuse on the Y sustain (Y-SUS) board. I replaced the fuse, but it blew again right after plugging in power. The Sony repair manual, which is almost useless, indicates a possible problem with the A board. The A board is where all the video connections are. I'm more inclined to think the problem is the power supply board (G board). Another post on this site from a user with a similar problem said his Y-SUS board was the problem. I'm going to try checking voltages and see if I can confirm. My Sony plasma 50PX2 is doing the same thing. It began after I heard a loud pop and turned off. Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
A case of which came first the chicken or the egg, Power supply board may be the issue or the sustain board--have you looked for the usual bad caps on the power board?
Same issue with - Panasonic TH-50PX70A , power UP with red standby, then power ON by remote - only Gives GREEN led blinking 35-40 times, followed by solid green led with no no picture no sound.
>> Solution; unplug Plasma from AC 10-15min, then plug in & power on to Red standby led,, At this point - Power ON tv while holding down both -Volume Down and F (function Select) buttons (front panel door) at the same time turns picture ON,all ok.
It's most likely the smps. You'll first need to check voltages at CN63, pin #1-(+5v), 3-(+3.3v) and pin 8-(+6v) Also check CNPPS, pin 1-(+30v), 4-(+5v), 8-(+12v), 12-(+10v) absent these values and the power supply is clearly the problem.
You might have a bad B board. What's worse is that the power switch is connected to the Q board which works in conjunction with the B board. Replace B board, You can send your B board for repair to a company called modus link pts. They are the largest part supplier of after market parts and repair.
It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.
