Question about Washing Machines

Ariston delay timer problem AVXL129 washing machine

Hi,
The delay timer on my washing machine has somehow come on and is stopping the machine from completing the cycle. When I turn it off then back on the cycle runs but only for a minute before reverting to the delay mode. How do i turn this off!!!???

It appears your timer has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If the timer is not advancing in either the timed or automatic cycle, you will probably need to replace it.

Check that you don't overload the machine. This can happen if the load is too heavy.

Hi David if the timer is not cycling the tub will not drain ,the washer will not complete cycles, second check the lock switch on the door. this can stop the timer and the tub from draining. when not cycling the timer is at fault , this could be two problems, 1st when everything stops check the door safety switch , 2nd listen for the timer, if it stops running. good luck ,geodaws

The timer keeps advancing through all the cycles and doesn't stop until you unplug it.Each cycle will work for a few seconds and off it goes to the next cycle, It even goes through the delayed wash cycle...

It looks like the timer on your machine is broken and needs replacing hope this helps.

Hi, Your timer motor burnt out, or timer faulty, remove top back panel (back of timer) and check timer motor, if timer motor are built-in (electronic type) you'll have to replace timer, or if timer motor can be remove, replace it, check back of timer, (knob you turn to change cycles or programs) locate timer motor, you can check appliance store to purchase timer motor, or let mechanic check, surely it's your timer motor or timer, check let me know,

My series 90 washing machine stops midway through the rinse cycle

Hi, faulty timer motor or timer, knob you turn for different cycles (programs) , it's called timer, that timer usually run by small motor, and sometimes burnt out, could be electronic too, remove top back panel, look at timer, you'll see small motor, attached by two small screws, remove motor, place ohm tester lead, and check for continuity. if motor is burnt out, replace it, if your timer is electronic, you will have to replace complete timer, good luck.

hi there,

make sure that the program is not on the "Intermittent Agitate Program". that would be the cause of the delay.

the other issue would be the timer itself. the timer is mechanical, so once the contact on it is corroded, it will only function intermitently or not at all.

For a Kenmore top-load washer model 600S, it only has a "rinse & spin" setting. I've seen technicians press different button combinations to force it into certain behavior. Is there a button combination or sequence that will force the washer to spin only? I don't want the rinse. Thanks
