My Creative Zen sleek mp3 went through a period where it would not turn on but now it turns on but the battery dies within 30 minutes of being on. It charges on and off the computer ans says it is fully charged but still just dies very quickly. I have tried charging it with the lock on nd that does not help, can you help
My guess would be you have killed the Lithium battery inside it. Few people know this but if you leave your mp3 player in a hot car or laying in the hot sun or even jogging in over 85 degs it will degrade the battery where it will not hold as much charge. Then eventually it will get where it will not hold a charge at all and just die. That's just how Lithium batteries are.
Last time I checked a new battery replacement from Creative costs $100 and takes over a month. So don't leave your player in the hot places!

I also have that Zen Sleek.... you have to remove first the screen which sealed in a glue, then the keypad... from there you will have access to remove the top and bottom platings. You will need a precision tool of Philips Screwdriver to unscrew bottom and top platings.
The recovery tool mentioned above is not designed for the sleek photo. You need to download the firmware for the sleek photo from creative's site. Now we need to get your player recognized to get the firmware loaded. If you have Windows Media Player 11, it needs to be removed. Also remove WMP runtime. After that, restart the pc and your player should be recognized. You can then double click on the firmware program to run it. It might say something like, this firmaware is already installed...do you want to reload it? Click yes to reload.
I had the same problem with my sleek photo. Once I got rid of WMP and the runtime everything worked like a charm.

I think there are brightness controls in the settings, I'm not too sure lol as my player isn't in the room with me. If there are brightness settings, make sure they're turned up and your backlight is not set to OFF. If the problem persists after this, you can get in touch with Creative an I think they offer a repair service if the product is not under guarantee anymore, but if it is under guarantee, enjoy a new player courtesy of the guys down at Creative. Why does technology make you work for what you already paid good money for? Have you tried going into Recovery Mode? You do this by holding down the Play/Pause button while triggering the Reset button. Once there, you have four options. Try selecting Disk Cleanup and then Reboot. You might need to re-Sync a few things but it's worth a shot. Good luck.
