Having used this router for some months now with no problems suddenly it won't let me access "my e-bay" - when I input my login and password it simply locks up. It is the same for other laptops in the house. I can access my yahoo mail to read but won't let me send. When I disconnect the router and use my old modem everything is fine but I need to have a wireless connection for the rest of the family.
Can you help.

Re: 2wire 1800hg router
You may have to restart your router in the settings menu, as i doubt if the firewall is blocking ebay or yahoo.
Make sure non of your firewall, or internet security programmes are blocking these on each pc. and check for spyware and trojans as i have only ever known these to interfere with EBay.

not sure if the 1800hg is the issue log into the router and turn off the encryption temporarily then try to connect the ipod. if the router connects double check your encryption key. if not or it connects for a second and then drops may be the internal security for the router stopping the connection you may have to call 2wire to help you turn off some of the security to keep the ipod connected.
1.can i use my 2wire 1800hg with vista?hooked up to ethernet connection.- yes its possible make sure you enable dhcp on your lan side of you router and under tcp/ip on your pc set it to authomatic assign IP address and dns server address. most router use 192.168.1.1 as thier default address to access it.
to fix your passkey problem.need to access the router and try to change the passkey then save and don't forget to restart the router after you save it,by unplugging it. "make sure your passkey is 8 characters long"
It is quite possible. You may have to access the user interface of your 2wire 1800 gh and then enable secured site access. You may have to open port 443 or lower your MTU to about 1400 or 1300. Please PM if you need further information
If the modem/router is rented from your service provider, I'd suggest contacting them to request a replacement. If you've purchased it yourself, check to see if it's still under warranty. Judging from the user manual, it seems it would have come with a 1 year warranty. If you're still in that time frame, contact the manufacturer for information on how to get it replaced.
If you own the modem outright and it's out of warranty, you may be looking at having to purchase a replacement. The steps you've already tried (rebooting, resetting to factory settings, completing the setup process) are about all you can do with these home-use routers. There's no advanced "back door" to really poke around and see what could be wrong.
