THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING NOW IS THAT IT WONT TURN ON AT ALL AND THE DVD IS STILL IN THE DRIVE?
On all CD and DVD drives there is a small hole on the front
CD/DVD panel. Straighten a paper clip and insert it into this hole and the tray will pop out, you will then be able to remove the DVD disk.
If your laptop does not turn on, even when the power adapter is connected to the main, and there are no lights on to indicate it is connected to the mains and charging, then you could have a faulty adapter which means it could not charge the battery and the battery is flat.
Test the adapter with a multimeter to see if it is OK or borrow an adapter (make sure it is the same type and voltage) as your adapter and connect it to your laptop. If it works the you need to buy a new adapter. You can also test your adapter on a different laptop to determine if your adapter is functioning.
If there lights on when you connect the adapter to the mains, and your laptop does not boot up or run the POST (power on start test), you could have faulty RAM (memory) or the RAM is not making proper electrical connection.
Reseat your RAM several times and then boot up your laptop, if it still does not work then you possibly have faulty RAM. Remove your RAM and swap it into a working laptop to check if it is faulty (you may be able to get your friendly computer shop to check it for you). If it is faulty then you need to purchase new RAM.
If you are trying to retrieve the DVD from inside a laptop that won't turn on, the easiest solution is ... a Paper Clip! Straighten one end of the paper clip and insert it into the small hole on the face of the DVD drive and the door will open.
