Try this:
FN+F11 turns wifi/bluetooth on/off

Look at the LEDs on the front, namely the left most two.

No Blue + No Green = All wireless modes off
No Blue + Green = Bluetooth Off, WiFi On
Blue + No Green = Bluetooth On, Wifi Off
Blue + Green = Both Bluetooth and WiFi on

Press Fn+F11 to switch between each mode in turn in the order above.

Configure your wifi access with whatever tool you prefer. Some use the built-in windows wireless network , others use the realtek one. Use whatever works for you. (personally, I use the windows one).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Where is the Wifi switch?

You can enable or disable your wireless with a combination of keys on your keyboard, or with a dedicated wireless switch. On Acer notebooks and netbooks, the following methods are used:
  • A dedicated button, located above the keyboard.
  • A toggle switch, located on the front or side of the device.
  • The FN and the key with the wireless icon on your keyboard. Usually, the key combination Fn + F3 is used.

I don't know how to switch wireless on, on my netbook. There is no visible switch, and when I try to view wireless networks it doesn't see any of the available networks.

As i know, on acer netbook you have to switch on your wireless by pressing Fn key with one of the f keys, look from an antena icon on this key or go to control panel open network connections and right click on wireless connection and click enable.

Wi-fi scanning failed

Make sure your modem settings are correct. Most routers have a little LED light on the front to indicate whether they're broadcasting a wireless network or not. If the light is not burning, check your modem settings - you'll find more info on this in your router manual.
If the light is burning but your laptop isn't picking up the network, make sure your wireless switch is on - this is often a combination of keys you can press to enable or disable your wireless network service. Once again, the manual of your laptop will tell you where this key combination is to be found.

Unable to connect to the internet

Hi akiefer_811,

All you need to do is enable the wireless receiver on the u100. To do this, hold down the Function key ("Fn" - in the lower left corner of your keyboard) and press F11 (there should be a satellite-shaped icon on the F11 key). Once you've done this, it should detect any accessible wireless network within range.

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
