S.yimg is a server for yahoo mail and is part of the yahoo mail process. First, make sure your internet browser is cleaned up. I like a product called cleanup from stephen gould. http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=69
Another popular product is ccleaner. They both will remove cluttered temporary internet files and cleanup cookies. This may help your slowness problem. Another thing to check is your DNS. I like to add Google's server 8.8.8.8 into the dns settings.

SOURCE: Yahoo Mail DEAD slow please help

Hello,

don't give up on yahoo to soon.
The logon procedure was changed slightly to improve security.
Log on to yahoo:
http://www.yahoo.com/
When you get the message about running ActiveX click on it run it, you want to be able to logon and yahoo is a trusted website.
A windows should come up asking you to set up security questions and answers.
After you have done this, you will be taken to your yahoo home.

SOURCE: Yahoo mail slow

I haven't noticed this.
But I can tell you that sometimes it do happen, especially while they upgrade their servers and stuff like this.
I guess that it should be resolved in a few days

SOURCE: Can not access yahoo mail - redirecting to

I had this very same problem with a computer: Safari wouldn't load yahoo and stalled when trying to pull info from l.yimg.com. So I installed Firefox. And it worked...for about 3 weeks. Then it quit. Same thing. So I installed Google Chrome. No access. Three (3) browsers, same machine, no access with the "connecting to l.yimg.com" flag in the corner.

As I was surfing for answers, I found one post that mentioned SonicWall 2040 as the culprit. We're running a SonicWall TZ210w at this site with the Comprehensive Gateway Security settings in place--including AntiSpyware. When I turned off the AntiSpyware piece, all of the browsers blew right through and brought up yahoo with no problem.

My final solution was to set the two IP addresses I found associated with l.yimg.com as allowed and I turned on the AntiSpyware function again.

If you use it, I would remove Sonicwall from the configuration temporarily and see if its a sonicwall issue.

I'm not sure as I didn't spend a lot of time on this, but my suspicions are that something being delivered by Yahoo from those servers is seen as spyware. If you're having problems getting access to Yahoo AND you're running some type of spyware tool, turn it off or disable it.

I also have a report that a small cookie may be the problem.
Tanto70010, if you look cryptodan up in the dictionary, it says cryptodan (noun): A very smart cookie that can be found on the bleeping computer irc channel.

S.yimg.com slows down my email!! What is it???

There are hundreds of quirky problems happening this week on YMail. Many users can not get into their mail at all. This happened in 2007 and 2009 when Yahoo was working on the site. It is not your computer or browser. No one on Google or Bing could explain what s.yimg.com meant. One person said to "refresh the page" when this appears.

See if you can get to your email by clicking on the blue MAIL icon at the top of this page.

If not, try de.mail.yahoo.com since the German server seems to be unaffected.

If that does not work, go to features.mail.yahoo.com and click Try It Now. It is free and you can switch back later. The s.yimg will disappear when Yahoo is done working

Yahoo mail doesn't load. it get's hung up "waiting for l.yimg.com"???

bad internet connection (especially if wireless)

perhaps try a reboot or better yet a shut down and restart (after at least one or two minutes being off)

If not: Try www.housecall.antivirus.com (trend micro) it is an excellent online virus scanner -- you could have a virus.

Best regards

What is (mail.yimg.com)?

mail.yimg.com has six IP numbers. All of them are on the same IP network. This hostname cnames to geoycs-l.gy1.b.yahoodns.net. e.yimg.com, l.yimg.com, us.yimg.com, ep.yimg.com, xa.yimg.com and at least 16 other hosts point to the same IP. yimg.com is a domain controlled by five nameservers at yahoo.com. All of them are on different IP networks. yimg.com has two IP numbers. They are on different IP networks. mail.yimg.com is hosted on six servers in United States. It is blacklisted in one list.

When I surfed to it, it came up with a blank page. Apparently it is black listed. I hope this helps you understand. It apparently is a mail server for yimg.com. Whoever yimg.com is.

I had to allow 'mail.yimg.com' through my firewall - something I was always able to block. It makes me wonder exactly what mail.yimg.com is and why are Yahoo making it required now? Probably some sort of tracking ****...
