My computer is booted but monitor will not turn on

  • Anonymous Sep 25, 2012

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED
flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty
inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my
instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-

Computer monitor cycles on and off when the computer boots up but seems to have constant power when just turned on

The boot process goes through various display modes. Each time it switches, the monitor has to set itself for that mode. This causes the monitor to flicker while it's adjusting. Perfectly normal operation.

Monitor won't start when I boot up - without a lot of fiddling!

First try to do monitor self test.Disconnected the blue cable VGA or white colour connector from monitor to the computer. Turn on the monitor and check if you are able to see colours or line on the monitor.Indicating self test monitor is working fine. If you are using Video card on computer connect monitor directly to onboard video and check. Good Luck.

Problem in AOC 17

Your second step in troubleshooting this problem (after you check the connections) is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is probably shot.

Gateway lcd monitor

First, narrow down the problem to either the monitor, or to the computer itself. Either try the monitor on a spare or friend's computer, or try a known working monitor on your computer. I'd guess your computer is where the issue is at- it isn't booting the Operating System (MS XP or whatever O/S is present on the hard disk. if the computer is the issue, try booting from the CD which came with the computer, (assuming you have that CD). Or, you could see if some computer tech savvy person has a bootable floppy diskette. Basically a "no-boot" problem, can point to a number of problems: hardware issue (bad hard drive etc.), or an operating system problem.
