Question about RCA 27V520T 27" TV

1 Answer

Popping noise I've had this tv for about five years, Its an 27" RCA standard screen television. For the first time two nights ago it started making this popping noise in the back and along with it the screen sometimes will get a white line going across it but only when it makes the noise. I left it on still after hearing this and a couple hours later it became loud like someone was slapping their hands together. The next day i turned it on and it was back to the lower popping noise. It makes the noise for about 5 minutes after i unplug it even. We took the back of the tv off and vacuumed out as much of the dust that we could but it didn't stop the noise. Any idea what to do?

We have a 32" F32649 doing the same thing, I assume the same solution? Is it easy to get the back off without breaking it?

The anode cap on the back of the tv tube is leaking the high voltage be careful as going into the back of a tv it store very high voltage and could be fatal.the solution to problem get a tube of clear or red silicone discharge the high from the tube, you do this by getting a alligator clip with wire attach clip to a ground wire on the back of the tube attached the other end of the wire to screw driver gently push it under the Anode cap you will hear a popping sound with i little sparks. remove the cap from off the tube get some alcohol wipe the dirt away apply the silicone around the anode and the anode cap place in on back and leave it to dry and cure for about 7 hrs close up back and turn on your tv and all the popping sound is gone.good luck.but if it is the wire for the anode cap that comes from the flyback is the one leaking change the flyback.again good luck.contact me on fixya.com or email me at [email protected]

Rolling lines on screen

Sounds like the power supply has a bad capacitor. This problem can inject excessive 60 hz from the AC line into the vertical stabilizing picture system. The hum also my come from the same reason, bad or leaking filter capacitors. Cheaper just to buy a new TV or borrow another TV and connected to your system to see if the problem still occurs.

TV went out

Hey Jim, The high voltage protection circuit has gone out on the D-board and will need to be replaced. The fuse to the power supply is probably fine. A good repair tech shouldn't charge over $125 for this and it only takes a couple of hours. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

RCA 27" TV F25432

You apparently have a high voltage arc. Possibly the anode lead to your picture tube. Also the flyback transformer could be arcing. If you're not experience with tv repair, you need to have a tech check it for you. The circuits operate at very high voltage and if you get into it you can get a possibly fatal electrical shock.
