Re: no water or ice
ALWAYS CHECK FROM THE WATER SUPPLY LINE TO THE WATER SOLENOID VALVE ... TO ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE GOOD WATER FLOW ... IF WATER FLOW IS GOOD, SHUT "OFF" VALVE.
THEN YOU CAN CHECK WATER SOLENOID VALVE STRAINER AND ORFICE TO SEE IF IT IS CLOGGED.
(USUALLY LOCATED BEHIND FRIG.... INSIDE THE INLET SIDE OF THE VALVE THAT REQUIRES YOU OR SOMEONE TO REMOVE THE SUPPLY LINE BRASS NUT. (IN SOME CASES THE FITTINGS ARE NEOPREME)
CREFULLY REMOVE THE STRAINER AND ORFICE ASSEMBLY ... IT IS SMALL !!! (CLEAN THEM THROUGHLLY). REPLACE ALL PARTS THE WAY YOU REMOVED THEM....
TO CHECK WATER SUPPLY SOLENOID OPERATION EASILY ... JUST USE A "METAL BUTTER KNIFE AND HOLD IT ABOUT 1/4" FROM THE TOP OF THE VALVE ... YOU SHOULD FEEL THE MAGNETIC PULL IF IT IS GOOD.
LASTLY LOSEN THE NUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VALVE THAT LEADS INTO THE FRIG. TO CHECK FOR WATER FLOW. IF YOU HAVE WATER ... THEN THINK ABOUT
CALLING A "LICENSED FACTORY-CERTIFIED COMPANY TO GET A "FLAT-RATE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK".
UNFORTUNATELY THOUSANDAS OF CONSUMERS ARE BILKED BY SO CALLED FIX-IT-ALL HANDYMEN WHO LOOK TO REPLACE PARTS THAT CAN COST YOU HUNDREDS.
NO WATER ??? NO ICE !!!

HI MIKE.may be its just jammed with ice.empty all and try empty first.might be making ice and solidifying due to water leak.(high pressure or valve) or motor gone.good luck Ali
That will take a few test to determine which is the most likely. Most times it is a loose connection in wiring harness as it goes from cabinet to door or the freezer light switch is defective. When you open door to freezer all of the fountain and ice maker power is disconnected for safety reasons. If the switch is defective when door is shut then these are acting as a lockout. But you just said ice maker works so we are back to a bad connection or the LV (Low Voltage)board itself. This will take someone with a multi meter and follow through with me and wiring from the tech. sheet. I will try to make a wiring diagram for you to follow here. Thanks, Sea Breeze
Sounds like the dispensor board has lost communication with the main control board . The part number for the main board is WR55X10942 . This is the board behind the refrig , behind the small 8 X 10 panel . It runs about $ 150.00 . I have never found a bad dispensor board . The main board is easily replaceable .
Most likely reason water not dispensing out door
1) You can turn up the temp in the freezer to see if it thaws in a couple of days,
2) Turn on the dispenser light and leave it on, will thaw the line and keep it thawed,
3) the water tank is frozen in the fresh food side (you can defrost with a blow drier)
6) the fill valve went bad or plugged ( power to fill valve but not opening) ($50)
7) Micro switch went bad in the dispenser for the water side
8) Door switch bad
9) Install a heater kit to thaw the line and it will keep it thawed ($35) PN#1381601
10) You can replace the whole door if insulation gone bad in door ( $500 to $800)
11) a broken wire to the fill valve ( no power to fill valve )
12) with GE refrigerator bad dispenser boards or control boards ($400 and $150)
13) plugged, faulty or incorrectly installed water filter
let me know more about you problem and I can help..
I would remove the bottom kick panel ( 1 screw on each side ) and follow the wires to the receptical ( about 5 inches from bottom of door ) . Wiggle the receptical , to see if any of the dispensor lights come on . Also try pushing the wires into the receptical farther . If still no lights , then the main control board behind the refrig ( behind 8" X 10 " panel ) is probably bad . No communication between the main board and dispensor board . Part number WR55X10942 . I have yet to come across a bad dispensor board , so , replace the main board first . If the receptical process doesn't work .
Good chance the water line near the ice maker motor is frozen. Thaw out the freezer for about 6 hours - move your frozen stuff to the refrig - ot should be OK - then back again after thawing. This alnost always works.
This could be as simple as the door switch or as complex as the dispenser control board. I would try the door switch first. When the door is close it turns on the dispenser controls. If the contact is defective in the door/light switch then this happens. Unplug remove the door switch and mark wire locations. 1 Powers the lights and the other powers the dispenser. and one is the power itself. Sea Breeze
There are a number of things that can cause both the ice and water in the door to stop working. There are two control boards that sit behind the buttons on the dispenser. Either one of them may have failed.
There are several different types of dispensor controls on this refrigerator. You need to download the Factory Repair Manual for your fridge. It will tell you how to remove the dispensor cover and diagnos each board so you know exactly which one to replace. The Repair Manual will be the best source for you at this point.
the bord is usually where the switch's are in front. There behind the push buttons. I would make sure your getting power to the bord and go from there. If you do have power there replace the bord. If not you will need to locate the tech sheet for the wireing diagram and trace the circut for the dispensor. Good luck
