Hi I would like to know if I can change the burners in this product from the 4 Plextor 12/4/32 CDRW drives to 4 DVDW drives. Does the system support this and if so would there need to be any firmware updates? Also would I have to use Plextor drive or could I use a different brand? I tried to contact Rimage but to no avail. Thanks Victor

Thanks but I wasn't asking about physicality I wanted to know more about the firmware aspect of this unit. Also the hard drive is irrelevant as the unit uses a reader. What would be involved software/firmware wise with this upgrade?

    Thanks
    Victor

As far as compatability goes, if they are all fitted the same as a conventional pc via an ide cable, then any drive will fit, but for the purpose of burning DVD's ensure you have enough hard drive space for caching the images that they burn from and make sure your memory is large enough to cope.

The Plextor PX810SA arrived today - no instructions, no manual - there is a strange 3 foot red cable with small plugins on both ends... 2 'sort-of' labels: "ROHS" & "CROSS OVER" -...

Yes thats SATA, sata supports hard drives and cd/Dvd drives also, you will need to connect it to a sata port or buy another sata controller for pci.

The device is CD - RW Drive Plextor Plexwriter Premium TLA # 0107 1- is there a way to change the lens? 2- is there a way to know if the problem is electrical or mechanical?

1 - no, the lens is fitted permanently on the reading head.
2 - check in the Device Manager - if the burner is correctly recognized and reported as functional then it's a mechanical problem, not electrical.

My Rimage 2000i will not begin production of cd burn/print. Says there are no production servers active on cluster

Hello B13Designs,

If you receive a "No Production Server Active" message when using QuickDisc, make sure that the Production Server status is set to Active, Processing orders in Rimage System Manager. Once the Production Server is set to this status, jobs can be processed.

1. Open Rimage System Manager.

2. Select Production Server. Production Server status information displays in the right panel, next to the Production Servericon.

3. If Production Server is paused or stopped, press the play button. Production Server starts.

If this does not fix your problem, feel free to give our support line a call @ 1-800-553-8312 (Option 2).

Thanks!

New burner is taking 6 hours to burn dvd

Check the DMA settings on your DVD device, usually found under Device Manager->Properties. It sounds as though DMA is OFF, causing this extremely long burn time. You could also check your BIOS settings for the Hard drive(s) and DVD devices you have installed. Make sure that DMA is enabled for all of them. You'll see increased performance when enabled and set to ON.
Good luck!

The plextor dvdr px 708a stopped working

Hi,

Thanks for coming to FixYa, The problem you have is either a well documented software problem, corrupted plextor software or a failing drive.

Click the below link, then scroll down and click the "Fix It" button. Follow the onscreen instructions, restart when it's done and see if your drive re-appears. If it does, you're done, if it doesn't work then try re-installing the plextor software. Again if that doesn't work then your drive is most likely failed and you should replace it.

Hope this helps FixYa,
