Powers off My DVD player was working just fine last night. When we put a disc in this morning, it indicated it was reading and then the player shut itself off. We turned it back on (it powers on just fine) and put a different DVD in and the same thing happened: it started reading the disc and shut itself off. There's nothing in the troubleshooting guide that deals with this problem.
I tried unplugging everything (cables, AC) and plugging it back in but still encountered the same problem.
Any ideas?
Check for a 'HO2' error message after powering off then back on. The HO2 error indicates a spindle motor problem. (the actual little motor that spins the disc) Possible temporary fix as follows:
- insert a disc
- unplug the unit
- remove the case
- spin the disc by hand (you can spin the little motor without the DVD in it if you can reach it, I found spinning it with the disc in it was easier)
- plug it back in and check if it works (I had to help it spin once more with the power on to "jump start it"
- unplug and replace the cover

take a dry paper towel ......... get the DVD wipe the DVD in a one direction circular motion... also is type of readable with your player .... note if you used a special software on PC than place into DVD player it might recognize the DVD
This is a motor problem. Here is what to do to put it right.
Open the disc tray and switch off the power, then remove the lid off the player. Locate the disc motor and where the spindle goes through the motor put a little WD40 or light oil (but not too much) or it will get messy.
Turn the disc motor a few times yourself and let the lubricant soak in. Leave it for about 30 minutes then try it again - and it should work.
This works in a number of cases, though I can't guarantee it will work for you. TRY IT! (:-)
After variety of different tests and findings I have resolved this issue. It appears that the DVD burner was not in good working order and the DVD player was not at fault. Thanks you to all who answered and responded to my problem. Many thanks.
call support from manufacturer on how to reset your player, For instance, on Samsung players after it is powered on you hold in both channel buttons for 10 sec and the player restarts. essentialy like rebooting a computer.... that fixed mine that had the same problem
